literature.stackexchange.com/q/5334/139 "Is the speaker with an on-off switch a reference to Orwell?" by adding the other relevant quote. I forgot about that for half a year because I read the comments at work where I didn't have the book. This is why I should review my old SE comments, but there's a lot of them.
