My teacher said I'd be no good at poetry because of my dyslexia.
So far I've made two jugs, a vase and a bowl, so fuck you Mrs Collins.

Have you decided where you're going off to college, then? Switzerland? New Zealand? Canada? Ireland?

I did make a decision. Working on actually moving that forward now...

Nice! Good luck!

Thanks. My main issue is that I don't have a proper high school diploma, since I was homeschooled my whole life, so I had to take some measures to get around that...

5:15 AM
ah. Does Israel have any equivalent to a GED?

Well, I have a GED from when I was 16.

... so that should count in the university's eyes, hopefully. Good luck!

But for the program I'm looking at I need either a full local high school diploma, or a diploma from an English-speaking country and a minimum SAT score.

'sunfortunate. Hope you're able to get that resolved!

(The minimum being a 1200 total, with a 650 on the Reading and Writing section.)
So I took the SAT a few weeks ago.

I was 10 points off of a perfect 800 on the Reading and Writing :(

oh that's tough luck. 790 is a great score, though

Anyway, with a total score of 1500 and a 790 on the R&W section, that should be good enough. To make up for the lack of proper high school diploma, I was advised to also bring a couple letters of recommendation with me from people that I know who either work in academia or hold doctorates, so I hit up a couple people from here that I know who agreed to write something up for me.
So now I'm waiting for them to get those back to me and then I can take them to the admissions office and hopefully get that sorted.

Wow, 1500 is impressive! That must be like 98 to 99 percentile
Cool that you have academic type people who can write you good letters of rec!

98th, according to the report I got, with the global average being 1161.

@verbose Hey, having a SE diamond for seven years puts you in contact with some good people :)

ah yes. I wouldn't know
I'm not sure I know any people at all. Is it solipsistic in here or is it just me?

Q: Short story - Protagonist is a young boy whose parents traveled in Africa. He has treated leprosy and is socially awkward

Sean DugganThe story was one of an anthology I read in the 1990s, I think, from a book discarded by the local community college. I remember several of the books were by T. Coraghessan Boyle (must have had a teacher who was assigning them) so it might have been one of his short stories. The protagonist is a ...
