Q: Names in The Water Margin

DJClayworthI'm reading Lowe's 2009 revision of J. H. Jackson's 1937 translation of the classic Chinese novel The Water Margin. The revisions make a point of removing some of the anglicisations from Jackson's original translation. One of the main characters is Wu Song. About thirty chapters in we meet Wu Son...

Q: In 'East of Eden', which character referred to "the free, exploring mind of the individual human"?

Chappo Hasn't ForgottenI'm trying to find out who I can attribute a well-known quotation from John Steinbeck's East of Eden to, but I can't access a copy of the book, and my internet research only comes up with "John Steinbeck". Well, of course – he's the author of the novel. But they're not words directly from his own...

@Bookworm The remark is made by the narrator, i.e. Steinbeck himself near the start of chapter 13. Now, was novel-Steinbeck the same person, with the same views, as writer-Steinbeck?

@CDR We wanted to know which questions became HNQ but the mechanism to automatically post a message into the chatroom when that happens has never worked. The best I got was a temporary pop-up not an actual chat message.
The HNQ messages are generated by a ticker feed, whereas what we wanted to have was a working message feed. (You see the ticker messages only if you happen to be in the chatroom when they appear.) The feeds are defined on the room's feed page.

@Feeds I have tried the chat message version of the HNQ feed several times but it never worked.

@verbose - no, I don't, sorry. I found some other journal that referenced the Nilimma Devi article, and they have a pretty simple citation, which just has Dance Sidra as the container. Not sure where it first appeared.

What is going on with Lambie's comment? Am I completely missing the point of his comments generally? This is the third or fourth time one of his comments has me scratching my head. Is he just being a reply-guy, or am I being dense in some way?

Q: Laurance Sterne's Black Page

user20333I am currently writing a paper as a college assignment on the black page of Laurance Sterne's black page (leaf) in Tristram Shandy. I would like to know if anybody has the name of an article or a website that explains the process of creating black pages. Thanks.
