3:25 PM
@JohnRennie hi

@JackRod Hi :-)

Sir are u free at the moment?

Yes :-)

I have one question related to ocean salinity?

That isn't something I know anything about, but I'll help if I can.

3:27 PM
sir what is the basic difference between the salt in a lake and the salt in ocean?
do the process in between them is different?
@JohnRennie

Do you mean why doesn't lake water have much salt in it?

Some what yes.

Well lake (and river) water comes from rain, and rain was produced by evaporating water from the sea and condensing it back to water to fall as rain.
And when you evaporate water it leaves all the solutes behind. The rain is basically distilled water.
That's why river water has no salt, and lakes are mostly filled by rivers so they have no salt either.

Sir, I think I was failed to elaborate my question lake mean salt lake not normal river,
so difference between salt in river vs salt in lake
how those ions work to form salt and the process starts

Ah, they are both just sodium chloride.
The rain dissolves salt out of the ground, and rivers carry that salt into lakes and ultimately into the sea.
In most lakes rivers flow into the lake then out of the lake again, so the lake remains with a low salt level.

3:37 PM
actually sir how an isolated salt lake is formed which has no connection with sea

Once the salt gets to the sea it has nowhere to go, so the sea gets gradually saltier and saltier.
This happens with lakes as well if there is no way for the water to flow out of the lake. Rivers carry water into the lake, along with a small amount of salt, but if the only way for water to leave the lake is by evaporation then the salt builds up in the lake just like it does in the sea.

@JohnRennie thanks sir

Are there salt lakes in Rajasthan?

@JohnRennie yes!
my mom home town didwana

I didn't know that! I'll have to Google it.

3:46 PM
@JohnRennie then sir how u identify right candidate?
I mean there many u do not even know who u talking to real or fake!

It's not that had. We don't give money, only educational stuff that isn't of interest to people who aren't doing the JEE and it's only small things - not anything very expensive.

even that is great u are sitting in uk
you know sir recently i travelled to my grandma town

It's all good karma :-)
@JackRod Where does she live? In Rajasthan?

yes

What town?

3:49 PM

jaislmer

I guess the covid restrictions have been eased a bit then? If you're allowed to visit relatives in different towns.
Jaisalmer pronunciation , nicknamed "The Golden city", is a city in the Indian state of Rajasthan, located 575 kilometres (357 mi) west of the state capital Jaipur. The town stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone and is crowned by the ancient Jaisalmer Fort. This fort contains a royal palace and several ornate Jain temples. Many of the houses and temples of both the fort and of the town below are built of finely sculptured sandstone. The town lies in the heart of the Thar Desert (the Great Indian Desert) and has a population, including the residents of the fort, of about 78,000. It is the...
The Golden City!! :-)

@JohnRennie yes pretty sir your charity make me remembered a guy who was genuine math guy not good in English but a math genius in lockdown his study affected him most
he do not know chem and physics at all.
neither jee

Is he going to do the JEE?

idk whether he knows about jee at all, all he know is he want to get into a math degree but he does not have anything no smartphone no laptop
I gave him a advice to prepare for it and explained what jee is
I had some saving related to my phone that i gave him and by that we bought a new smart phone for him

Wow, that's great :-)

3:56 PM
actually i am still using old redmi note 3
which is almost broken i had a saving of three years
sir I advised him to visit stack exchange and u especially
for physics.
@JohnRennie

I'll be happy to help if I can, though my maths isn't so great
Certainly I can help him with physics.

do not worry u will yourself surprised with his math skills trust me sir I am third year btech student and he is no less then me

India has a long tradition of producing skilled mathematicians.
Obviously Ramanujan is the best known, but there are many others.

@JohnRennie if u can provide him study material if u feel him as a genuine jee aspirant then that will be good.

I would have to work with him for a while

4:05 PM
yes sir
sorry I did a typo in my last sentece
@JohnRennie I have to leave now sir there is another question I posted before the salt question if u can look?

About gamma rays? I wasn't sure what you were asking.

Cool :-) Though it's not an area I know much about.

no issue sir
@JohnRennie are u done for today like lunch?

Yes, I'm in my armchair and just chilling now :-)
