Q: Dangerous but efficient future energy source

ClickworkIn my story, I want a Chernobyl analogue, but much, much worse. Like Chernobyl, it will be a clean, powerful, and reliable source of energy that fails catastrophically due to a preventable flaw. The disaster I’m picturing will be due to human error. Is there an energy source out there that could ...

In that particular instance, Mauro’s got you. It’s not fake news if you can go to Truth Social and check for yourself. Richard Kirk also nailed it: literally every piece of human language is context-dependent.

Last try: the Liar is due to SELF-REFERENCE. Human languages have billions of sentences that are not self-referntial: "This rose is red". There is no interest in showing that avoiding self-reference we can "solve" the Liar: we already know it. The issue of the Liar is simply that with a very limited amounts of "resources" (self-refernce included) we can manufcature so big a puzzle.

Q: Could a country be considered a "home" under Article 8 of the ECHR?

FD_bfaArticle 8(1) of the ECHR states the following: Everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life, his home and his correspondence. I am particularly interested in individuals' right to respect for their homes. It is well-established that the definition of homes here is broad and...

Q: Finding solvable groups with given Fitting subgroup

Human Let $K=\mathbb Z_2 \times \mathbb Z_2$. What finite solvable groups (up to isomorphism) have Fitting subgroup isomorphic to $K$? So far I've found that $K, S_4, A_4$ satisfy that property. I don't know whether there are others... What follows is what I know. Let $G$ be a group we want to fi...

@LuckyChouhan Bad human! You are over quota and can't make any more requests right now. Try again in 24 hours.
Fri 16:48
The only thing stopping them is a consistent non&human produced food source.
Fri 13:30
@naturallyInconsistent it's fine for generating drafts of code imo because it's efficient and it's easily testable. but it clearly cannot replace documentation written by a human who knows the actual purpose of a script
Fri 13:21
@Starckman Christians say that the authors / redactors of the books of the Bible is "divinely inspired" YET wrote as a human being using the convention of their time, so the result is BOTH divine and human documents (i.e. not dictation), and that God's providence made sure the RIGHT text (though shouldn't be equated with the elusive "perfect manuscript") survive through the ages until today. Otherwise, how can God's inscripturated Word be present to us today?
Fri 13:12
@Starckman That's all well and good. It's about how you integrate other sources of knowledge. You could go the route of 19th century liberal interpreter of the Bible (Schleiermacher, Bultmann) that treat the Bible AS "merely" a human document and demythologize the content of the Bible. That would be close to using "methodological naturalism" to the Bible, which is of course not appropriate.
Fri 13:09
@bolbteppa The genie is already out of the bottle: my search results are full of generated garbage, we're seeing papers containing obvious generated text that has not even been proofread to remove the most telling sign, I'm getting emails that clearly no human bothered to write but expects me to read
Fri 13:09
human consciousness is a complex thing. the bot is a language imitator. it doesnt have a unified experience
Fri 13:08
“ But please remember that methodological naturalism can only be applied to human experience. Treating the Bible as a source of theology is very different.” I didn’t get it
Fri 13:05
@Starckman So you probably will like Alister McGrath. But please remember that methodological naturalism can only be applied to human experience. Treating the Bible as a source of theology is very different. But we'll go into a debate on which hermeneutics to use. Reformed theologies tend to use grammatical-historical method that does NOT involve the reader/author psyche much.
Fri 12:44
so anyting that it could screw up, a human could too
Fri 12:40
because gpt uses human language, u can give it far more complex instructions than a computer @Feynmate
Fri 12:39
The only "advantage" would be that you don't have to write down a program to compute your stuff, but...

1. The human is the one who decides what is relevant to compute, that's probably the most important thing in research;
2. The only difference would be that you just tell the AI "hey, solve this equation" insetad of putting your equation into a program. No big difference;
Fri 12:37
And no, just because the model "passes" some standardized test, it does not imply it has the "skills" you would imagine a human passing that test to have. Most models will happily talk to you about linguistics and the history of the alphabet but are unable to count the number of letters in longer words

The reason why I was enamored by Thomistic virtues and his analysis of the human search for happiness is due to a book I came across in a used book store: Josef Pieper's The Four Cardinal Virtues. It was an epiphany to me, so since then I tried to understand my faith from that angle (I was a believer since childhood), and of course my question was bewildering from the Reformed pastors I spoke to. Instead they point me to Reformed systematic theology books such as by Louis Berkhof.

Your statements are always ending with comparisons. Every action of human beings will ultimately result in a karma palan: Good, Bad or Neutral. This is how karma works in the presence of God. Try to understand working of karma using simple logic rather than through comparisons with some other unrelated ideas. Good Luck!

I am in severe depression because of this sir. Yes sir as you told me last time I am doing charity by donating food items to orphanage old age homes etc on regular basis . My problem is iIn Dharmasutras sages have created laws that if u put a vow and swear on third person with self imposed conditions they will face serious consequences based on ur conditions Are they more powerful and can override law of karma? This is what I'm worried bcoz what if my father or mother never get human birth because of my promises as mentioned in Dharamsutras
Fri 01:43
Sir in Dharmasutras sages have created laws that if u put a vow and swear on third person with self imposed conditions they will face serious consequences based on ur conditions, actually the thing is due to my unstable mind, I used to touch god idols or Tulsi and put thousands of promises like if i do xyz thing , my father or mother will face serious consequences and never get human life like that and later when i think I used to regret. I'm worried what if my father never gets human life because of my broken promises as per law of Dharmasutras. I hope you able to understand my concern
Fri 01:43
Due to my unstable mind i have put 1000s of promises that if i do xyz thing they will never get human life like that. As per Law of karma if they done good karma they should get human life as everyone but as per this law of breach promise from Dharmasutras, they should never get human life based on the conditions i put . Here law of karma, and law regarding Breach of Promise conflicting with each other regarding what should happen to my father or mother (if you didn't get what I am trying to convey please tell me I'll explain again sir )
Fri 01:43
For example, if Law of breaking Promise mentioned in Dharmasutras as per it, if i make a promise such that if I do xyz thing, my grandfather will never get human birth . If i break it as per law of promise he should never get human birth. But as per law of Kathopanishad, if he has done good karma , he may deserve a human birth in future. Both law of promise and law of karma conflicting each other. What will happen in this case? Which law will take precedence and override other ?
Fri 01:43
You know very well that there are always chances where a Jivatman is going to rot in lower Yonis for eternity and never get human life. If so, instead getting worried why don't you attempt to prevent it? Of course, it is in your hands very much. From today onwards spend a portion of your salary towards Dāna (दान/charity), particularly, offer Annadhānam (अन्नदानम्) to poor. These punya samskāras when strengthened (by repeating charity/Annadhānam), they will ensure a human birth. So wise up!
Fri 01:43
Sir i have one question. This is a hypothetical scenario pls don't ask me how. ( Please kindly assume it for this question POV. Kindly don't ask me how), Suppose assume there comes a situation where a person is going to rot in lower Yonis for eternity and never get human life. Pls make this assumption for this question. Suppose if such a situation comes, if that person has not done such huge karma so as to never get human life for eternity will god not intervene atleast by showing grace and saving him even in such a situation also or simply keep watching as witness?
Fri 01:35
@Timothy Englehart. I'm glad to hear you will be sticking around. I read your post and you said, "Jehovah's witnesses have the correct idea and accurate knowledge because Jehovah is God and Jesus is his son." Are you aware or would you agree that it is a universal law that a son shares the same nature as its father? Since His Father is Jehovah and it was His Holy Spirit that caused Mary to conceive of Jesus would not Jesus have two natures? One on His Father's side which is deity, and one on His mother's side which is human. Matt. 1:21. This is explained at John 1:1-14. Does that make sense?
Fri 01:33
@NigelJ I guess I don't personally see an issue with identifying His prior existence with the name "Jesus", given that He has always been (albeit not in human form before the incarnation), and because His statement in John 8:58 doesn't qualify specific names. Cf. Hebrews 13:8 (although I suppose "yesterday" is ambiguous).
Fri 01:33
@NigelJ, do you believe that the Son pre-existed his human life as the Angel of the Lord? And if so, do you believe that the Angel of the Lord is co-eternal with the Father, or that the Angel of the Lord was created by God as the first of his works on Day 1?
Fri 01:33
@NigelJ - Are you denying the fact that the Son of God pre-existed his human life as the Angel of the Lord who was gloried with God before the world was made?

@Wyrsa AFAIK the Western church understands "eternally begotten" analogically, since this is a speculation about intra-Trinitarian relationship that is necessarily mysterious at some level, so in the "subsistent-relation" version of the human analogy, "eternally begotten" is likened to the image that a human makes of himself/herself, that in an adult both are simultaneously existing, i.e. the one generating the image and the self-image itself.

A child from a rich family goes to a school. All the other students are nice, perfect friends, and always an good example. Except they are all robots designed specifically to give her the perfect school experience. The teacher
is a real human though and as part of a plot she sneaks her real daughter into the school pretending to be a robot. The two children manage to dismantle the illusion and confront the parents and the company that makes these simulations.
Thu 13:42
@WilliamJordan - As you may notice in my answer, I never suggest "prearrangement". In my opinion, divine intervention does not need any prearrangement or need time to be prearranged. It simply happens beyond human expectation.
