I'm creating this Fate homebrew aggregator site. Please check it out, but be gentle!

My players set aside a certain amount of time out of their busy schedules to play the game, and I feel it's my duty not to ask them to do busywork when they show up.

My approach to my players was to just ask to talk with them about the system we were running, and basically launched on a big gush of "I wish we could do all this stuff and Fate does it and it's really cool but it's unfortunate because we can't really do that stuff in 4e because it's mainly around combat and I'm pretty excited about it and etc"

Once a generation, one and only one member of the village is chosen to take tribute to the dragon. If they survive the journey and deliver an acceptable tribute, the dragon will bless that generation with fertility of crop and belly. If they do not, fire will rain from the sky.

So in that sense, Core is much better for someone new to RPGs to read while FAE is better for them to use. Interesting!

This is mainly because I do not want to have to care about the rules themselves, which vary in little ways here and there. I don't want to implement the rules of the game at all - just the framework. I want to model the tools you have present on a tabletop, which already work extraordinarily well. You can discuss compels and reject them in chat, and then players can pick up their fate points and put them in the bank or give them to each other or whatever as they choose.

I invoke the Send You Home to Your Mama in a Bodybag advantage I created earlier and hit you with a chair.

Forceful +3, able to forcefully move an average of 5 zones in a single action, forcefully defends against physical attacks at +5, overcome physical obstacles forcefully at +5, and attacks forcefully at +7.

Also, I'm going to leave this here for later. Possibly buggy CSS dice and its gradient permalink.

@JonathanHobbs The 3D dice actually bother me a bit, because there's no common vanishing point. It makes them look Lovecraftian ;)
