I think every time I needed a slider I took a generic script and wrote custom WP code, requirements always too specific. plugins seem more aimed at people who want to configure it to hell without ever touching line of code.
I feel that devs are way too brainwashed into "but I want to be compatible with everyone and their fridge!", how about "maybe if we produce desirable functionality in modern code - more people would get off their ass and get sane PHP version"

Two days to go in the moderator election and only three of five candidates have taken the trouble to answer the community's questions. That kind of narrows it down...

the primary purpose of mods is to deal with exploding things :) we are exception handlers. the routine is handled by community moderation or this would burn mods like matches.
