I've started a chat for music on SO's chat, "sound of source code"

I personally thought your answer had more value in it than mine, which was quite a glib summary (I was busy and harassed so didn't put a huge amount into it)

Q: What is the boat programming meme about?

Michael StumI remember some time ago there was some huge problem regarding some question that had something to do with a boat, and I think I missed that topic completely. As I see it being mentioned every now and then, I'd just like to know what it was about.

Aug 22, 2011 12:46
close - open - migrate - close the revised question is where i am. i wasn't aware that closed questions were re-openable

I mean, normally I would think, "What are the chances?" but I imagine that name is the northern equivalent to John Smith.

@Mvy Congratulations on your motorboating!

@Iszi In my mind it's less about apathy, and more about respect.
Aug 16, 2011 16:17
or should we never mention which one is which and confuse folks...

@Iszi notice in the photo that the number of twists is different for each one. Harmonic interference is a bitch.
Aug 16, 2011 00:14
Sure, @Iszi may be the 3rd on that ranking, but I wonder what his rep/character count is :)

Speaking of sometimes depressing hobbies, I should probably go pick up my child.

Isn't there always someone named Hamish

I think you should do the music for StackExchange The Movie.

@VineetReynolds That's great to protect the data in transit. But your browser cache still belongs to the company.

Is there a simple way to search for questions with a specific tag and to which I have not responded ?

well, I for one, am proud to be american, knowing that we are a nation that can waste huge amounts of time and resources watching stupid, but beautiful, stuff like silhouette dancing.

@ScottPack This morning I learned that some people worried about directionality of plugs and kosherness of giraffes. I am close to surrealness overflow.

damnit - you could be right, I was incredibly unicorned that time

@RoryAlsop it shouldn't be a dichotomy at all. The bounds to your system's requirements are "must be accessible to the customers", and you can do whatever you want within those bounds.

Q: Paddington Bear Choppertar

Kyle BrandtMany of our top users seem to have avatars with a picture of themselves in a car with what appears to me to be Paddington Bear: So what is the story behind this?

Aug 4, 2011 19:48
@Mvy @RoryAlsop Tip: there's markup for SE site names now, in chat and in comments: [so] = Stack Overflow, [security.se] = IT Security, [metaso] = Meta Stack Overflow, etc.
Aug 4, 2011 19:29
@TheEvilPhoenix Maybe I should create some sock puppets to down-vote you into oblivion so you lose those rights. ;-)

btw @Gilles I'm lovin' the @@ secret mod cheat you showed us! brilliant!
Aug 4, 2011 08:02
Looks like @Gilles, @Ninefingers, @Iszi, @ScottPack chat very valuable last night
Aug 4, 2011 00:56
@Gilles In my world, the people protecting physical access to "the warehouse" are an entirely separate organization (different company for that matter) than the people protecting the datacenter.
Aug 4, 2011 00:55
@ScottPack Ok, you don't, but surely surveillance of a datacenter is already on-topic here. So why not accept surveillance of other kinds of buildings?
Aug 3, 2011 23:04
I guess I'm very strongly ambivalent.
Aug 3, 2011 20:53
The nyerd predilection for black t-shirts always confuses me. Do those people not realize how easily dandruff shows on black?
Aug 3, 2011 19:48
@nealmcb Why would it be? If it's good enough for Bruce Schneier, it's good enough for Security.SE
Aug 3, 2011 18:12
@Mvy Vegas must have very good egress controls ...
Aug 3, 2011 15:36
@Iszi Ideally, yeah. Shoulds, woulds..... If wishes were horses, we would all be eating steak.
