As he lifts his hands to his face, here in the Unwaking, an ever present reminder of guilt in his own mind, Brune's hands are stained red with blood.

Alex moves next to Brune and wordlessly wraps their arms around him.

"SO, HOW'S YOUR DAY GOING?"

"YOU HEAR THAT?" Darri yells into the mist, out the car window. "SHAPE UP OR I'M COMING FOR YOU, DEAR WORLD."

"They used you." There's an edge to Alex's voice now. "You're a good doctor, Brune, and that will never change."

Brune shivers, wiping his hands gratefully. "I helped them. I don't know how, but I helped them. They did something to me. I fed the Hunger."

Darri whispers, "you're a good doctor"

Brune digs his fingers into Jack's shirt, shivering. He has a sudden memory of the last time he watched Titanic, and that makes him manage a laugh, weakly, despite the circumstances. "Don't let go, Jack."

"Did the problems ask nicely to be had?"

Seapo actually starts laughing. As his body shakes with laughter, a drop of bright red blood - Jack's blood - rolls down the blade of his green-handled knife and falls to the floor, the knife still poised to make another slash. "I didn't know you were a comedian as well, doctor. Put it down."

"NO!" Brune roars. The knife completely forgotten in his panic, he surges forward and, in a violent yank, rips the necklace off his neck and holds it up in trembling fingers, as an offering.

"The knife, Alex!" Brune barks.

"Go to hell," Brune snarls.

@AncientSwordRage Looking over the ring, it glints a strange color - it's definitely gold, but perhaps a type of gold or alloy that you haven't seen before. It's almost paler than most gold you've seen. Etched into the surface of the ring is a repeating spiral pattern, continuing over and over the entire surface. The longer you look at it, the more you feel as if it's leeching the warmth from the air around it.
