Hi! I can't flag comments! Maybe because I just subscribed, but I'm very angry at a post. https://superuser.com/a/1531927/1897312 This user claims that this program is FOSS, but it's paid! After the first 25 conversions, it asks you for money. Ludicrous! Remove it asap!
Quick note - I'm using this room to keep track of my backlog from the strike. If you have a loanshark, callgirl or other spammer that needs a little quicker attention while we gnaw on our flag backlog, putting it there should put it to the top of my queue.
I just tried to update all my account profiles across the network, but my Super User account user profile was not updated. Could someone please invite me to a private chatroom? I want to touch base with someone on the super user mod team privately before creating a support ticket.
For Super User, it's probably okay when new users see loan shark or call girl spam. Can you imagine the new users of Academia.SE see those spams ? (Academia is my primary site)
@SathyajithBhat I stand by the idea that a programmer might recognise that keyboard better than a non-programmer (or not π€·π»ββοΈ) but your right. That wouldn't have been the right stack
@EliteX you can fix them now. Once you are certain they are to a good enough standard you can flag the post. I do recommend doing so once those posts are fixed and assume you have one chance to get it right.
You're in some kind of "full on" election mode setting. And time is just on the other side waiting to see when you're going to snap from stressing yourself out
Please don't radically change the meaning of posts, even if it's spam or otherwise rude. Leaving the original post intact will ensure the community handles it appropriately. I just saw a post with "Content not appropriate for SU" and was very confused.
@damryfbnetsi in future if you see obvious spam please do not edit it, just flag it and move on. It makes it harder to evaluate and the only person you are helping is the spammer.
@JakeGould While we appreciate your edits, please rather focus on questions that are on topic. There's no point editing off topic questions for grammar, spelling or formatting, since it'll just put them on the front page or the review queues again, when they really haven't changed in content.
Every now and then they ask for moderators. To express interest keep using the site. Help out with whatever you can at the reputation level you're at. If that means flagging junk, voting to close things, editing things into better shape, deleting things that need to be deleted, do that and keep doing that
@slhck So do you think we should raise the rep threshold for creating new tags? It's 1500 on Stack Overflow and 1000 on Mathematics, so why can't we also raise it?
3) I shudder to think what he'll do when he can freely edit or vote on closing/reopening posts (zero attention span; doesn't take the time to understand what he's reading). His small percentage of good posts has generated almost 1,600 rep because of the quantity. His gaining chunks of undeserved rep is scary.
My view is that if you think some specific information is missing (like whether they're using a VPN client or whatever), that should be requested in the comments β the OP is not a mind reader either.
> Please note that this post is meant to be a means for the Super User moderators to gauge the general feelings of the community on this issue. Votes on the options here do not necessarily reflect the final decision that will be made. The moderation team reserves the right to make a decision which may not directly correspond with the options laid out or voted upon here.
To be honest, it's about time the policy on SU changed. Tablet devices are getting more capable every quarter, and for many users doing actual work with computers, these devices can replace their ultrabooks, laptops, or desktops easily. There's no reason to limit SU to traditional form factors.
@bwDraco this is an example of moderator soft skills. I need to let @BenN know nothing is wrong, while revealing almost nothing and letting him know I take his concerns seriously
@Ramhound My view is if a single mod casts a binding vote to hold a question, and then the issue gets corrected, a single mod should be enough to reopen the question (preferably by the same mod, or with some back channel discussion). Only reason to leave it closed is if some other issues exist with the question which I couldn't identify myself.
@RajeshS When an answer is simply a request for more help or outright does not attempt to answer the question please just flag it to be removed and move on. Do not bother editing it, just leave it. We do not want "I need help" answers and editing the "thanks" out dismisses otherwise useful flags from the system and effectively marks it as "low quality but useful" rather than "garbage".
It's clear that that user doesn't understand his job as a reviewer. Nothing we say seems to be sinking it at all. Unless he gets banned from reviewing, he will continue to actively harm this site (however well intentioned he is).
