I assume that the typo in the tag name has been around long enough so that other users can check that the related bug has been corrected. So I guess you could change the tag name to only one hyphen. (Of course, I could to it too - but I think you deserve the credit for creating the tag. If the tag stays, there is Taxonomist badge and also Research assistant badge etc.) — Martin Sleziak 1 min ago
For archival purposes, here is tag-excerpt for arithmetic--topology.

I guess we just never expected anyone to create a tag with a -- in the middle! - If it wasn't for those pesky users - software development would be so much less stressful... :) — Jon Clements Jun 14 at 11:47

@Martin I'm the author of the post that contains the tag and also the author of the tag (since it did not exist previous to that post). I'm commenting here just to confirm that I did not intend for a double hyphen. I tried to edit the tag but found no option to edit the tag name itself. — Darth Geek 1 min ago
@MartinSleziak Thank you for bringing this to my attention. When I created the tag I intended for only one hyphen, but I must have done something wrong. I noticed it a few seconds later and then tried to edit it but I could only edit the description of the tag and not the tag itself. — Darth Geek 41 secs ago
@DarthGeek Since this is only a technical issue related to tagging (and not to your actual question) I'd suggest to move the discussion about changing the tag to chat. — Martin Sleziak 8 secs ago
I might be wrong, but I believe the only thing you have to do is:
1) Edit your question to remove the old (arithmetic--topology) tag.
2) Edit the question again to add the new tag (with one hyphen).
3) Edit the tag-info of the new tag.
You will probably get a warning that you are creating a new tag.
Will do, thanks.
Of course, you can do 1) and 2) in one go: Simply edit your question and change (arithmetic--topology) to (arithmetic-topology).
I couldn't create arithmetic-topology because arithmetic--topology already exists
Let me try to see what exactly is the error message.
I see, the system prevents tags with very similar name.
I suppose I could create it once the typoed tag has been deleted, but I don't have the privileges

I have removed the old tag (with two hyphens) from the question. Since the tag is now empty, it will be removed by the system in 24 hours. See here for details: How can we get rid of misspelled and unused (or “zombie”) tags?
So the thing to do is to wait one day. When the old tag is out of the system, you'll be able to add the new tag without any problems.
It might be useful to keep link to the tag-excerpt - so that you can copy and past from there.
Perfect, I'll do that.
No, thank you!
Maybe now the question will get some more traffic
Or maybe not - we'll see. But still, this is IMHO a legitimate reason for bumping the question, not something done only to gain more views. So I don't think anybody is going to object to this.

So now there is tag, including tag-excerpt.

Q: On the research fertility of Arithmetic Topology.

Darth GeekI'm thinking about doing my Master's Thesis on the subject of Arithmetic Topology: the relation between knots and primes, 3-manifolds and number fields, and other connections between topology and number theory (based on the works of B. Mazur, M. Morishita et al.). I've talked about it with my to...
