@DennisKaarsemaker I guess all the girls IN porn don't have computers anyway.....that's why the employees for the company aren't IN porn...not worth looking at :)
I have a bunch of machines under one domain that I frequently connect to;
apollo.my.university.edu hades.my.university.edu zeus.my.university.edu
and I use the same configuration settings for each of them. Instead of typing them all out in my .ssh/config,
Host apollo
Hostname apollo.my.unive...
@DennisKaarsemaker Bit of feedback from the interviewing. The interview style seems a bit abrupt. More interrogation than business meeting, but the post-interview feedback is pleasantly blunt.
ya, just make sure you leave a forwarder from your appliances to your new DNS servers until you're sure you've moved everything to point at the new hotness
@DennisKaarsemaker Wasn't really bad. I figured we probably have a different interview style over here. Usually the meet & greet comes first instead of in the middle. =)
@MichaelHampton Somebody else said the two of us. I dunno. I'm interested to see how the votes go. Then next week we'll be able to actually run the numbers and see how the rounds went.
Dual power supplies w/UPS, 2 interfaces connected. So, there's that at least.
The issue apparently was funding ...we're still on a 10 year-old phone system that's unsupported and we can't even change the names on the phones. But, can't get funding. Apparently there's a higher-up with a bit more funding swing so we can get what we need heh. We'll see...
A ferrule (a corruption of Latin viriola "small bracelet", under the influence of ferrum "iron") is a name for types of objects, generally used for fastening, joining, sealing or reinforcement. They are often narrow circular rings made from metal, or less commonly, plastic.
Ok, this is how fucking legit and enterprise this service is. You have to use X11 forwarding to get a little window before you can stop or start the service
so if you have 100 individual retail office keys, you just need 1 office volume license key and you can use that for all 100 retail installs as well. Then you can do stuff like KMS for activation and all that
@Chopper3 They didn't upgrade it until it broke. Before I got here they had a consultant that came in Wednesday nights for $60/hour after his real job. So imagine working an 8 hour day then coming in here to work until 2 or 3 AM
In my infinite wisdom after changing the interfaces file to match the IP of the old server that it was replacing, I typed ifdown eth0 thinking "oh, eth0:1 should be okay". I immediately regretted hitting that enter key.
I did some straw polling of the constituent badges earlier and just like questions ~70% of the voters are from $elsewhere and 40% could only vote because of association bonus
@Chopper3 yes, I get far too angry and then sad about being angry at the quality of the questions we get. As we got more popular our quality has plummeted ...
@Iain So has the grammatical skill level of our average petitioner
Please take a few minutes and rewrite your question to at least somewhat resemble Standard Written English. I've cut out some of the worst bits, but as it stands your question is a trainwreck of sentence fragments and ellipses - if you put so little effort into your question you can't reasonably expect folks to put much effort into helping you. See also this Meta topic on what is expected of questions here. — voretaq735 secs ago
I really don't understand SE either, they sell advertising space on the sidebar to companies wanting to hire sysadmins but more than 70% of the questions come from people with more rep $elsewhere so we're failing to attract the target market
So, I was reading the news about how liberty reserve was seized and so on ...I did an nslookup on the domain and got 74.208.15.160 as an IP. It points to another couple domains that were also seized.
@Jikag "You can deploy multiple RODCs for the same domain in the same site, but it can lead to inconsistent logon experiences for users if the WAN to the writeable domain controller in a hub site is offline. This is because the credentials for a user might be cached on one RODC but not the other." technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754956(v=ws.10).aspx
