I know it's kinda easy to go through the review queue and vote to close, but with the increased amount of votes being cast, it's also necessary to pay a little more attention.
Why was superuser.com/questions/525729/… closed as off-topic? I know I can't ask for subjective software recommendations, so I outlined my specific needs and asked if anyone knew of a piece of software that fit my needs. I don't think that I was soliciting subjective software recommendations here.
@Pieter Generally, looking for alternatives to something is considered not constructive these days. It's a bit of a borderline case. You could try simply asking for how to fix the problems you have with File History, and if people happen to suggest alternatives, so be it.
I'd suggest you post a reopen request on Meta Super User so the community can chip in on this and decide whether they want to reopen, or give you some tips on how to improve.
