I don't have that script. I find that I usually stick to comments closer to what agent86 exampled in their answer and those are more what I was talking about. Nothing too wordy, just tell them what aspect of their question is OT like catalog or shopping recommendations.

@Sterno I'm purely stating my belief that the comments serve a purpose. I don't disagree with Nick T's complaint about it seeming bureaucratic, but I don't have a problem with sounding bureaucratic as that's how I tend to seem anyways.

@James Gaming.SE's audience—particularly the ones that love the lore-heavy games—are naturally going to have lore questions: many lore questions that are either off-topic for Gaming (because they're expanded universe stuff) or stuff they didn't think had a place on the SE network. The goal would be to get them to realize they can ask those questions on SciFi: that's how you have the trickle effect.

what is the policy on asking question you already know the answer to relating to old games so that it leaves a paper trail for born-again classic gaming enthusiasts with questions?

For instance: "In Warcraft: Orcs and Humans; which side wins according to canon?"

Or is that WC:H&O?

@WillihamTotland you can ask questions you already know the answer to, and you can even answer them if you so desire (no need for sock-puppeting). If the question is downvote or close-vote worthy, though, you're taking a risk.

@James yeah, I think they've about summed it up. There's a lot of things the system will allow you to do that you probably shouldn't - the community is ridiculously powerful here.
