Donatello SwansinoIn the TV series Supergirl, it is revealed that Now, is there anything legal about that? Q: Is the Klingon's view of the Federation supposed to reflect the (future) Federation's view of the Borg?

Q: Why do Vorlons live in special gaseous rooms in Babylon 5, given that Kosh can be seen walking around the station with ease?

user486818Humans need to wear a gas-mask when visiting Kosh in his gaseous room in Babylon 5. It suggests the Vorlon species need certain atmosphere to survive, like humans need oxygen to breathe. If that is so, why is Kosh able to walk freely around the station like a human without wearing an "oxygen" tank?

Q: When and why did orcs go green?

Matt ThrowerTolkien popularized the orc as the generic fantasy bad guy. In his legendarium, orcs were corrupted elves and their limited descriptive text reflects this. They are described as "swart" and "sallow", suggesting their skins were dirty yellow to dark brown. Our modern conception of an orc, however...

Sure, I called you to yell at you ;)

@Mithrandir I'm discussing the question at hand at it's state of openness. Time is meant to be wasted by telling one things they already know.

@Mithrandir I'm not reading that, thanks for the patronising comment though

@Edlothiad The important bit is the last bit.
> Discussion of community behavior or site policies; please use meta instead.

I was happy with being unable to see it :)
But don't worry, I know where the "important bits" were

And to be perfectly honest, I'm getting kind of tired of you complaining when I try to uphold the site policies. Just talking in comments or chat won't change anything. If you seriously want to change the policy, please raise it on meta. Until you do that, I'd appreciate if you don't go after me like that when I leave a comment or VTC/VTRO based on existing site policy.

Okay, who is going through old HP questions an nominating random ones for reopening?
I appreciate the chance to boost my Reopen review count, but these should never have been nominated in the first place.

@amflare why?
I did two (or three?) while Googling a different question about HP ghosts and came up on some old closed HP questions, and thought of what @Edlothiad said earlier.

Okay. I'll defer to your expertise if you want to elaborate, but I didn't see any reason (for the ghost ones) to unmark them as POB.

Because the policy is not to close if they don't have a canon answer, and those, IMO, fall under that. They're not POB - just because we don't have a canon answer doesn't mean it's POB.

Q: 1988ish PC RPG that starts with navigating a raft to shore and has a scene where a village festival gives you food poisoning

Q: Looking for a manga about "war between nations, and special individuals with elemental tattoos"

ElliottI hope this is going to be detailed enough. Many years ago, I read a comic/graphic novel/manga, and the main theme was about war in a fantasy world (think of Final Fantasy, maybe). I believe the war was between multiple parties (i.e. more than 2), but I only remember that one of the parties was a...

A: Should all questions without explicit canon answers be closed?

KevinI agree with PearsonArtPhoto, questions should not be closed on the grounds that they don't have a canon answer, and I want to specially emphasize one particular point: the only way to know a question is unanswerable given canon is to know all canon in a universe, an unreasonable bar to set for m...

Okay. Thats valid.

Doesn't make it clever
And doesn't at all reflect how the community votes.

2:45 PM
Though I would argue that there should be a delineation between that and trying to apply in-universe "science" to random question that don't really have anything to do with the universe
I'm thinking of the "what if the world ends" question here.

I actually found that one interesting.
If a ghost is bound to the earth and can never leave, what does that mean exactly? What happens to them after there is no earth?

Although I've realised, a good use of your pings @Mithrandir would be to ping me every time you VTRO something so I can get it in the review queue :)

@Edlothiad if you're planning to click 'leave closed' on every question that I VTRO because of that policy, I'd recommend against that.
I did search for other closed HP questions after I found those ghost ones, but I decided that was a waste of time.

Aside from editing a question, is there any way to mention why one thinks a question should be reopened?

Comments?

2:55 PM
Actually, I guess a comment would work fine

This should be reopened, as our policy is not to close questions without a canon answer. See: Should all questions without explicit canon answers be closed?Mithrandir 8 secs ago
