@ff524 Please take a look at the attempts of two suggested edits about tag wiki.

@scaaahu what was your particular concern about those edits?

@ff524 I wasn't too sure about the purpose of the tag. Do we need it? Just want a mod to look at it, on the safe side.

@scaaahu in its current form, it seems very vague and not useful. Perhaps a "arxiv-endorsement" tag would be useful instead - we do get more than a handful of questions about those.

@ff524 I was thinking of arxiv tag should be enough for it.

@scaaahu there are 9 questions about the arxiv endorsement process. Maybe worth having a separate tag, maybe not.

@ff524 That's exactly why I want a mod to make a decision. Now you know it. I'll leave it to you. Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving.

@scaaahu I'll remove it for now and suggest that the user propose it on meta and seek community feedback. Thanks

@scaaahu you have more than earned the privileges you have. You do so much of the gross work keeping the site clean. I find your judgement about the wishes of the community spot on.

@StrongBad Thanks. May I take this as a compliment?

I'm thinking that among the Community Promotion Ads we could put stuff like: "Talk to your advisor!" or "Europe is not a country!"...

@MassimoOrtolano Problem is that those who need to see it, probably won’t.
Also, why the “Europe is not a country”?

@Wrzlprmft Alas, you're probably right. As for "Europe is not a country", it's because we frequently receive questions that make wide inquiries about Europe as though it were a uniform region.

@MassimoOrtolano Well, we even more frequently get questions that act as if the entire world were a uniform region …

@Wrzlprmft Which makes me think that a lot of people never set foot outside their city :-(

@MassimoOrtolano At least regarding academia, it’s somewhat understandable. You usually do not have much opportunity to learn much about how it works even in your own country before you enter a university or similar in the first place.

Ever wondered whether open-access journals threaten science? Read the answer here for only a handful of dollars.

@Wrzlprmft I find it ironic that it is published on a journal named "The Journal of Wildlife Management": we, researchers, born to be wild!
