@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 RIP my duck
@skiwi :D

2 hours later…
11:03 AM
LOL read the latest news just now @DanPantry?

Zak
@skiwi ^^

11:30 AM
@skiwi That is so huge
He's basically saying "Ah, right, if I run as PM, I now have to enact Article 50 AND break up the UK? NO TY.
"I made my bed but someone else should lie in it, damn it"

Zak
That, and Murdoch-Gove stabbed him in the back.
If Michael Gove becomes PM I might actually emigrate.

> He was a reforming, if controversial, education secretary between 2010 and 2014
Ah, yes. That was during the student loan rises, right?
And the student protests?
Abandon ship

Zak
Student Loans, Free Schools, Academies, Decimate the Teachers, Decimate the Students, Decimate the Funding.

Wait.

Zak
"Controversial" my ass.

11:34 AM
WTF. Does that mean we get an unelected PM? (by the majority)

Zak
@DanPantry Well, "Candidates chosen by Tory MPs, PM elected by Tory Party Members"

from the BBC's rundown, it looks like it is the conservatives who vote for their leader, who will then become interim PM until the next general election, right?
So... the public have no say until September?

Zak
@DanPantry MPs vote until there's only 2 candidates left, then it goes to a general-party ballot.

Basically.. let's elect Theresa May and she won't enact Article 50 because she voted Remain

Zak
And then lets' not forget what Gove has done in his short time as Justice Secretary.

11:36 AM
#politicianbowl confirmed

Zak
@DanPantry Maybe. She's been quite deliberately neutral this whole time.
Whether she actually triggers it is going to depend on the political situation
Which is, to put it mildly, F****** crazy at the moment

+1. It's sinking faster than the titanic.

Zak
I don't think it's that clear. Maybe "tearing itself apart from internal stresses, with bits going in unpredictable directions"

the entire of the EU is a political mess ATM

Zak
I'm not sure what's going to happen tomorrow, let alone in the 2 months it'll take to elect a new PM.

11:42 AM
UK wants to leave the EU, scotland wants to leave teh UK if they leave teh EU. spain doesn't want scotland to join the EU because Catalonia, the tories can't decide who gets the speaking stick
it's very reminiscient of GoT

@DanPantry He drove UK off a cliff and then jumped out

Zak
@skiwi Jumped Stabbed in the back and pushed over with everyone else.

@Zak I saw his face and I was disgusted already

He's the British Donald Trump
but with slightly better hair
There's actually a photo near where I live of him on the Wrecking ball from Miley Cyrus's song
completely naked
"do you want to vote for this? vote remain"
Note that Cardiff voted majority remain. I suspect that photo was due to it.
I'll see if I can get a photo of it on the way home if I remember

@Zak Stabbed?

11:49 AM
@skiwi With a knife

I have a feeling the Queen or her mother could die from a heart attack because of all this BS going on

Zak
@skiwi 2 days ago, Michael Gove was publicly supporting Boris Johnson's (assumed) bid for Prime Minister.

@Zak Uh ok that's a pretty major backstab

Zak
Then Rupert Murdoch wrote some supportive stuff on Gove and 2 days later, Gove is announcing his own bid for PM.

@skiwi actually the queen wanted to leave the EU soooooo

11:51 AM
@DanPantry Oh ok... missed that, then she might actually be happy

Zak
@DanPantry *allegedly*
@skiwi The Queen's been through 12 Prime Ministers, 12 US Presidents, 7 Archbishops and 7 Popes. I'm pretty sure she's used to BS by this point.

I think I can finally explain that I don't need to watch Game of Thrones to my friends
> Queen elected as Prime Minister
3
> Which means she holds the same view as the leader of the opposition but for opposite reasons, but her party’s view of this view is the opposite of the opposition’s.

Zak
12:10 PM
> So, let me get this straight… the leader of the opposition campaigned to stay but secretly wanted to leave, so his party held a non-binding vote to shame him into resigning so someone else could lead the campaign to ignore the result of the non-binding referendum which many people now think was just angry people trying to shame politicians into seeing they’d all done nothing to help them.

Meanwhile, the man who campaigned to leave because he hoped losing would help him win the leadership of his party, accidentally won and ruined any chance of leading because the man who thought he couldn
That's brilliant. Like something straight out of a Yes Minister sketch.

That's British humor right there?

lmfao @Zak

Zak
@DanPantry Yes Minister is exceptional satire. Except it's all based on actual government records.
Great Article. Ignore the anti-AdBlock thing.

ffs.
tfw your colleague assigns you a ticket in the helpdesk system
that's due in 1 hour
and you have already got to work overtime
and it was opened 3 days ago and sat in their queue
....

Zak
12:32 PM
Nigel Farage! "There can be compromises with the EU, including on a possible British contribution to the EU budget"

LOOOL
You've got to be kidding me

12:45 PM
I still don't see the UK leaving though

Zak
I can see it leaving. But every day that goes by I gain a little more hope that enough reality will settle in for enough people that the inertia towards "leave" can be overcome.

I do think they need to hold another referendum and Remain has to win
I'm not sure, could the EU else kick UK out on basis of ignoring human rights?

Zak
@skiwi Not without changing EU treaties
@skiwi But, you know, there's "The Law" and then there's political reality.

I don't think the EU will be very nice to the UK if they manage to stay in though

@Zak nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnailed it
@skiwi they won't be if they leave, it's a lose/lose.

12:54 PM
I mean they'd be happy with UK staying in, but I don't expect the UK to get good deals from the EU anymore

Zak
1:31 PM
@skiwi I have no clue anymore. I'm just going to break out the popcorn and watch for the next couple of years.

If you can still afford popcorn I guess you're set for the coming years :P

5 hours later…
6:51 PM

lol
2 messages moved from The 2nd Monitor

7:50 PM
Apparently the Airforce thinks it's Friday already:
Yes, that's Grolsch.
In an F-16.

3 hours later…
10:52 PM
Monking
@DanPantry I think you'll get a kick out of this, if you haven't already seen/heard it
