You're right, but only in the sense that I don't do everything in my power to prevent the human race from further propagating even though it's clearly possible for one man alone to achieve.
Ok in elementary school, they drilled over and over that if even one species got out of balance, it would set off a chain reaction and ruin the entire ecosystem.
So here we are, out of balance, ecosystem falling apart.
Why doesn't we as a race see that we're the animal out of balance?

Ugh it always comes down to spending money though... There's nowhere to turn, I have to deal with people to get money and then resources from them
All I want, is for people to notice that there's no point to having the money in-between anymore. We can just track every item individually now and maintain transactions in a database
But we don't even need that, that's still ridiculous old school, we have the statistical tools to just setup a system where you give away the right amount of stuff and get the right amount for free

I'm thinking of using the islands/ lakes instead of simply filtering them out.
Would probably be mostly graphical for the lakes, as well as not allowing them to have ports next to them, for the islands it might be more interesting.
