Parth TrivediIn Gujarat as well as other states like Maharashtra there is a tale " Hari ichcha bhali hashe" or "Hari's will shall be for good." What is the reason/myth/story behind that?

@KeshavSrinivasan I understand but was thinking that the answer might be right and it is just not cited. For quality purpose if a meta discussion raised to overview such posts then we may have chance to improve their quality instead of deleting. My concept is applicable only for the answer posts whose questions don't have accepted answer yet.

@Pandya Ramanujacharya never wrote any commentaries on the Upanishads. The only two commentaries he wrote were the Bhagavad Gita Bhashya and the Sri Bhashya, his commentary on the Upanishads. The Sri Vaishnava commentator on the Upanishads was named Ranga Ramanuja, but I don't think there are any online translations of Ranga Ramanuja's commentaries. His commentaries are online in Sanskrit though.
@Pandya However, the Brahma Sutras itself constitutes a text that is about the Upanishads, so in the Sri Bhashya Ramanujacarya does discuss how to interpret various verses in the Upanishads, and he also discusses the interpretation of the Upanishads in other works of his like the Vedartha Sangraha. So someone created a book compiling all the Upanishad verses Ramanujacharya discusses in his works: gdurl.com/PNPS/download

2:12 PM
@Pandya I just checked, and it looks like Ramanujacharya only discusses verses 2, 3, 9, 10, and 17 of that Katha Upanishad chapter, not verses 4 or 5.

2:44 PM
@Pandya If you know Sanskrit, here is Ranga Ramanuja's commentary: archive.org/details/…
@Pandya Also, here is a commentary on the Katha Upanishad written by a contemporary Sri Vaishnava Acharya, although an he's an Acharya who has a lot of unorthodox views for a Sri Vaishnava: srimatham.com/uploads/5/5/4/9/5549439/katha_upanishad.pdf
Here's what he says about verses 4-5:
@Pandya He claims that Ramanujacharya interprets adarshe as referring to the haziness of a new moon day, not a mirror. I'm not sure what work of Ramanujacharya he's getting that from though. Perhaps the Vedartha Sangraha.

3:27 PM
@Pandya I just skimmed through Ramanujacharya's Vedartha Sangraha, and I didn't see any references to that Katha Upanishad chapter: ibiblio.org/ramanuja/vedarthasangraham/… But maybe by "Ramanuja" that guy meant Ranga Ramanuja, not Ramanujacharya.

@KeshavSrinivasan Is this a book by that unorthodox guy, Achari, which we (you and me) have been discussing previously?

@brahmajijnasa Yes, that very same guy. So I take his words with a heavy grain of salt.

@KeshavSrinivasan haha Yeah, I can imagine.

4:02 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan See how much those guys are unorthodox when they have a Kali Santarana Upanishad translation there at their web, srimatham.com/our-publications.html -- haha

Q: Did Duryodhana know that he was doing wrong?

Amit SaxenaIt is believed that Duryodhana knew that he was doing wrong but he continued doing so anyways justifying that it is his nature. Is there any account that explicitly mentions this?

4:29 PM
@brahmajijnasa Haha yeah, I guess that's why his website says "Metkalai - the open-minded Sri Vaishnavism" - by "open-minded" he means "anything goes."

@KeshavSrinivasan "open-minded" -- too much Metkalai :)
