And where could I find that?

I can only find cjam-0.6.5.jar but not cjam.jar

wow

@KennyLau I've compiled CJam from source.
@Geobits Fun fact: Most dogs that fit in purses are actually cats with strange haircuts.

Today Mono, it's runtime and the Mono documentation finally dropped all (L)GPL licenses and is now completely available under MIT. So now, the .NET and Mono framework are free from restrictive and reciprocal licenses. IMO that's a massive win for open-source.

No more Tivoization \o/

4:15 PM
@mınxomaτ \o/ \o/ \o/
@mınxomaτ What does Tivoization mean?

Tivoization /ˈtiːvoʊᵻˌzeɪʃən/ is the creation of a system that incorporates software under the terms of a copyleft software license (like the GPL), but uses hardware restrictions to prevent users from running modified versions of the software on that hardware. Richard Stallman coined the term in reference to TiVo's use of GNU GPL licensed software on the TiVo brand digital video recorders (DVR), which actively blocks users from running modified software on its hardware by design. Stallman believes this practice denies users some of the freedom that the GNU General Public License (GNU GPL) w...

@mınxomaτ Yay! I began learning programming on a Duke TIPS summer course with C#, and I had a Mac so mono kind of got me where I am today

Hi @AlexA. ! Our bird is here.

Hey @Solver!
@epicTCK In chat markdown, strikethrough is ---text---

@AlexA. lol
I tried so many things..

@epicTCK Right now I'm working on two MongoDB courses simultaneously, but procrastination brings me to PPCG
@AlexA. What's the markdown for code snippet?

@Solver RN I'm homeschooled, but finished flashcards American History early

Hey @ZachGates and @SuperJedi224, are you two going to do your mod questionnaires?

@AlexA. does this look okay:

@Solver It does: it causes a syntax error. :P

New PPCG logo idea.

I don't really know what it's supposed to represent.

4:21 PM
@Geobits Me neither.
XD

>_>

haha

I started making Python function golf. Any ideas?

I figure I'll leave the logo designing in the exceptionally capable hands of the SE design team. Their proposed design for Puzzling is amazing.

@AlexA. You know, when you say haha, it could be understood as h = 1, a = 0, so 1010, or 2+8, or 10
@AlexA. What does it look like?

4:22 PM
@Solver I wonder if anyone assumes that I mean 10 when I say "haha" :P
@Solver I'll find the link

I do.
Thanks

Q: Puzzling Design Pitch - Congratulations, you're graduating!

Stéphane MartinI'm Stéphane, a senior product designer at Stack Exchange. First, I wanted to announce that this site is now starting the process of moving out of beta to become a fully-graduated site! Congratulations! Graduation and Your Site Design Graduation comes with a few perks, which should come out...

Duplicate detected. Wee-oo-wee-oo-wee-oo...
4
@AlexA. Wait, when did they graduate?

@AlexA. That is.. amazing.

4:24 PM
@CoolestVeto Yesterday I think
@Solver Right?? I'm pretty jealous.

.-. We don't get design?

They haven't quite graduated yet. Or at least the site still carries the beta label :/

@CoolestVeto I thought about it but I'd argue that the subset makes things a lot simpler because 1) no hex, 2) no floats, 3) no duplication and 4) positive only

@CoolestVeto I'm a little ಠ_ಠ that they're getting their design before us.

@Geobits We're too good for that though.

4:25 PM
@CoolestVeto We didn't graduate for five years. Wait another five.

@AlexA. WE ALREADY HAVE A DESIGN. xD

We made it ourself! xD

@CoolestVeto No. We don't.

(I know)
(jkjk)

4:25 PM
(oicok)

But seriously, wut. We've been ready to graduate for months now. >.>

The puzzle piece was back when I thought 'Puzzles' actually meant something.
@CoolestVeto I think we have graduated.

Do puzzles not mean anything anymore? Better break the news to Puzzling.SE...
@Solver Yep, we have.

3 hours ago, by trichoplax
"Puzzles" is the one part of our name which is misleading, so it may not be helpful to put a puzzle piece in the logo
That's what @trichoplax said when I showed him my design.

It would be really odd if our logo was a puzzle piece and Puzzling's wasn't imo.

4:28 PM
Haha ^ very true

@Geobits IKR

We should take CR's logo and invert the colors.

CR?

We should just go steal their design wholesale. They don't need it.

Literary devices lose all their meaning, and we may no longer step forward.

Do we require literary devices to walk?
Well, if literary devices lose all meaning and we can no longer walk, we can all get wheelchairs and race.

But the light of hope, the light of Programming Puzzles and Code Golf, gives us immense mental ability, to fight the creatures of silence, the creatures of the dark.
Yes we need literary devices, or I won't be able to make comments like this.
XD
Anyway, carrying on:

sigh I just don't understand how PSN is still functioning if it's impossible to change your password.

Hi, @El'endiaStarman and @NathanMerrill. You can carry on the story.

@Geobits what? lol

4:52 PM
@Geobits Like Project Euler. You can't change your password their either, right?

@NathanMerrill I've been trying for about a week to change my PSN password, but the password reset email never comes.
It wouldn't be so bad if so many games didn't need a connection for the "fun" parts, but they do.

oh. Buggy is different than "we don't support it"

@AlexA. Right. I had to create a new account for that. :( And do all the puzzles again :(

@Geobits I tried that recently with the website I use to pay my rent. But then I realized I was on the wrong website and I didn't have an account there.

@AlexA. I wish it was something as simple as that :/

@NathanMerrill Buggy to me usually implies "works, but with flaws", especially in a product that's been in production for years.
This just straight up doesn't send the email :(

@Geobits Buggy to me implies infested with insects.

semantics.

The problem is just that I can't use my multi-hundred-dollar system in anything but the offline modes. Which, frankly, for many games suck.

Multi-hundred-dollar system? What?

4:56 PM
rich people

Oh, it's a game.

@Solver PS4

@Geobits I have Xbox360.
Anyway, carrying on the story.

I got excited until I realized that she didn't mean code golf

:P

@Solver Not much else to it, really. I'm just pissed that something as basic as this doesn't work, especially for a product that clearly advertises itself as "the best in multiplayer/online" features.

XD
Good luck.
You're going to need it.

@Dennis okai thanks

Trying the live chat support option... Our average wait time is up to 30 minutes. Please stand by.

@Geobits 12 hours later...
Sorry, we can't answer your question. You may want to request a password reset again. Thanks!

@zyabin101 Whoops, should have been 24 times suggested wait time.

That would be more than I've gotten so far.

@Geobits what? really? xbox one has gotten really good over the year, with xbox 360 compat list increasing

I agree with @Optimizer

@Optimizer Rationality has nothing to do with this.

@Optimizer Can you install Linux on it? If not I don't see a point in either a PS4 or a Xbox

5:08 PM
@quartata xbox 1 has windows 10, so with the summer update, you will have most of linux features available on it

@quartata knows the way ahead.

And windows 10...

@Optimizer blergh no
0/10

eat cake instead.

well, wanting linux on a gaming console already is like -5/10, so 0/10 is an improvement

5:09 PM
@Optimizer I want to make a Beowulf cluster of Xbox Ones

I've only played a couple games on both consoles (Witcher 3 and Fallout 4), but for both of them the PS4 looked and played better imo.

xbox 1 vs ps4?

Yea

But but... Halo

XD

5:12 PM
both latest versions? I am not sure if anything new came out in each one..

@Optimizer It was very shortly after launch for both. I haven't compared the latest patches, if that's what you mean.

not just patches. were there any hardware improvements?

@Zgarb ************

Not that I know of. Both were within the last year.

Yes, it is 12 chars. :P

5:15 PM
PS4 is superior in every fashion.
Mostly because it's not owned by Microsoft.

I also had that opinion initially, but with windows 10 and universal apps, I think they have a better ecosystem on a whole

@quartata Steam Box

If you don't also have a Windows 10 computer to take advantage of that, then that's not much of a gain imo.

I haven't heard a whole lot about Steam Box.

@Geobits at least cortana is on all mobile OS

5:19 PM
I've still yet to figure out why that is. Cortana on android seems silly when it has the native Google app. Ditto for Siri on iOS.

coz ms is trying to build an ecosystem irrespective of your device.
tomorrow, if cortana is on all os, not just all mobile os, then it can link all your activities (think of universal continuum )

Ask Bing how that's working out so far :P
Google has that locked up for now (the device independent ecosystem).

not really
except for chrome, nothine of google is universally linked.

Even my mom, a die-hard apple fan, uses google maps, gmail, etc.
And yes, your google account is very much linked up.

somebody please marry | cortana if only as a joke | ill give +50 bounty

5:22 PM
huh?

Oh FFS. The support chat tab gives no indication when it's active. If you don't check it every minute or so, they'll ask your problem and then time you out.
This is just silly.

@Quill "Will you marry me?" --- "Sorry, I don't get it." --- @_@

> Marry me Cortana
> No I am an AI married to my duty. But I hear Indian weddings are quite an affiar with the colours, feasts and festivities

Is that real?

yes
i just asked

@Quill not happening, Cortana rejected her suitor.
When you type sl instead of sc... >.<

Every AI has its price. Maybe she just doesn't like llamas and was letting him down easy.

Okay, wait. Puzzling graduated. But they are getting their design way too fast.
We need one.
Fast.

Their design is beautiful

To be precise, they haven't graduated yet.

we already have the final design
its golfed a lot

5:29 PM
^ Interesting.

> We’d love to hear your feedback, and if there are no major design changes, we’ll launch the new site design and graduate the site from Beta soon.

can someone post the design link?

@CoolestVeto OCR-A should be the accepted font.

@EasterlyIrk I'm guessing that an eager designer had the idea for their design long ago, and took it out as soon as they announced the graduation.

h is silent, right?

So is the m.

Little known fact: "human" is pronounced the same as the Chinese currency.

I like random emotes in code.

5:35 PM
@AlexA. Renminbi?

@CoolestVeto So you're saying that it's a dog? Because that's what I was talking about...

@AlexA. Going to have dinner now.

@Optimizer I don't say it with a silent h.

Like ^~*.

@zyabin101 Check out emotinomicon.

@EasterlyIrk I don't have an Emoji font. :(

@El'endiaStarman I don't know anyone that does, tbh. I thought at first it was a joke, but I'm not sure now.

^
@Optimizer name your country of residence and you country of origin please.

Or don't, if you prefer not to publicly disclose.

@El'endiaStarman Nope.

just a minute, I'll also throw in the same details of my family

Don't forget your mother's maiden name!

Got to leave now, actually need to work. And it doesn't include chatting/coding/golfing.
bai

@Optimizer I'm not sure whether you're joking but no, in English the h is voiced.

Also, the model of your first car and favorite pet's name.

And city/cities where you were born, raised, and married.

@AlexA. o.O

5:40 PM
Since it starts with a consonant sound, you'd use "a" rather than "an"

dude stop

Some accents do use a silent H, but it's not very common. The same sort of people that say yuge, for example.

I have always wanted someone to do this.
^ That is truly fantastic.

> I am sorry to hear that you are having issues to reset your password, do not worry, I'd be happy to assist you today to reset your password.
uhhh....

If it's a frickin bot that I talk to, why do I have to wait for it? wth...

lel turns out they opened up the taps of racist bot on you.

Nah, it's not Microsoft :P

Oh, it's not?

Oh, they tried Tay again and shut her back down.

5:44 PM
Who dat?

Microsoft's racist, Nazi AI
(I'm not kidding)

well, its the people who taught the bot all that though..
its like blaming chatgoat for saying all those bad words

@AlexA. Isn't that yen?

@flawr Yen is Japanese, yuan is Chinese
@Optimizer Or Marky. He's gotten more vulgar and more hostile recently.

5:50 PM
Uhh... okay, I just got an email from Sony asking me to do a customer satisfaction survey while still chatting, before my problem is resolved.

@AlexA. Oh right. But where does the m come in?

I don't think they really want my response.

@Geobits 0/10 would (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ again

@CoolestVeto For some reason I first saw a jumping squid with with way too many arms.

5:52 PM
^

@flawr I was kidding :P
@flawr Me too!

@AlexA. Oh

For my homework I have to implement a linked list. One of the things is has to have is a function that takes the head as an argument and returns the first element. Isn't the head the first element?

@Geobits 12 hours and one survey finish later, they ask you to wait another 12 hours before you find out they can't resolve your problem. Enjoy local games?

I mean, the head is a pointer, but it doesn't actually return the first element it just returns a pointer

5:53 PM
Right, that is probably the solution to your problem=)

@undergroundmonorail The head is connected to the neck

@AlexA. Except for the so called headless-chicken lists.

it seems silly to just have return theList as my whole function but what else could they possibly want from me

Perhaps only the content of the first list element?

@undergroundmonorail is it doubly linked list? if yes, just go up till up is null :P

5:55 PM
Yea, it sounds like they want you to return the content from the pointer if I had to guess.

Uhhh, I don't know if anyone noticed, but Dennis used a JSGL:
0
A: Print the sum of the squares of some numbers

DennisJapt, 8 bytes Ns1 mp x Try it in the Japt Interpreter. How it works The code is parsed as N.s(1).m(p).x() N is a variable; it contains the parsed input. s(1) discards the first array element. m(p) maps p (square) over the remaining array. x() computes the sum of the array of squares.

What is this

but the content is a struct, and one of the elements of the struct is the pointer to the next one
there's multiple things in the struct, it's not a list of chars or something

@CoolestVeto So cool, when I was in middle school I discovered Daft Punk but I haven't listened to their music for quite a while now=)
@undergroundmonorail That is why you probably should only return the content of the first list (without the pointer to the next element usw)

I want a daft punk cover by disturbed

> I already sent you the password reset email. You should receive 2 emails, once is the password reset email and a second email with a link to a Satisfaction Survey. We value your opinion, and would appreciate if you took the time to reply.

5:57 PM
i'm not sure what you mean. hang on, i'll get you some actual code

Got one email :/

> Please fill out the Satisfaction Survey in order to get the password reset e-mail.

struct a{
 char* b;
 char* c;
 int d;
 char e;
 struct a* next;
};

typedef struct a a;

@Optimizer Didn't know them, they seem to make cool stuff=)

If I hadn't triple-checked my email settings, I'd think that I had them blocked or something.

5:59 PM
@quartata I remembered that Japt had an easy time finding numbers in a string, so I decided to give it a try.

i have a pointer to a struct of a
what would be the "content" of that
?

Well the actual information you wanna save in your list. Probably b,c,d,e
