laughing your ass out has interesting implications...

@Cyoce But otherwise accurate?

@AlexA. yes ¯\_( ͡ಠ ͜ʖ ͡ಠ)_/¯

@DigitalTrauma I really want to believe that it's just cut in a way that makes that happen, with no power or moving parts, but I can't tell...

@HelkaHomba Cool as Helka

i wonder if ton avoided replacing $^I with $\x09 for presentation convenience, i feel silly making a comment about it

@MitchSchwartz Don't feel silly. I'm sure they wouldn't mind elaborating. :)

Q: Should there be a migration path from PPCG to Stack Overflow?

DoorknobSeveral benefits come with graduation, including the ability to set up migration paths to and from the site. This would entail a close option under close -> off-topic -> belongs on another site, which currently only has meta.PPCG as an option for non-moderators: If three or more users vote to ...

@El'endiaStarman That was accidental... I just needed some random people and those are some of the people on this site that I know the best.
I'm not even going to run as a mod, because I'm not going to be active enough and I don't trust my judgement enough.

@NewMetaPosts We should probably also have a migration path to Programmers SE @Doorknob

99% of SE's users don't know what Programmers is about. We'd migrate a lot of crap there.

:/
We do get some questions on topic there though

Name one.

2:40 AM
Well I couldn't show you because they're deleted.
But I do see "what's the best way to design xyz" occasionally.

@Dennis Wooo I'm part of the 99%.

@AshwinGupta you can upload gifs but not videos

hold up.
Anyone know how to solve that?

yeah. Which solves it for about 30 minutes.
Then it comes back.

This happens every single day. I'm sick of rebooting every time.
I doubt that very much. Its a brand new hard drive

3:26 AM
Oh, so BSD?

Wait, so am I the only one whose chat still says beta? I've tried everything I can think of to clear the cache out :/

no, you are not

I still see beta.

@Dennis I am staring at the UberGenes source and there is literally no way for the expression it exec()s to be of any form except "H.c[H.v[<number>]]=H.c[H.v[<number>]]<character in the set "=*+-/%|&^:><">H.c[H.v[<number>]]" and a handful of other very similar assignments. It's already completely sanitized by the fact that it completely tokenizes its input into a list of single characters that it puts in an array.

I was just confused by the then. Hmm.

3:30 AM
@Dennis I know that's not rigorous proof, but I don't feel uncomfortable asserting arbitrary I/O is not possible.

Anonymous
@Geobits I still see it

They need to drop the ?v=cf bit, which is their onus

Wuh, my mobile chat reset to the old interface

@HelkaHomba Does the old interface have a strange keyboard?
Aww...

@Mego no, the ?v=cf is supposed to be there. The cache just needs to be cleared server side, which will happen eventually without any manual intervention (CloudFlare can probably be blamed for some users seeing it right and some not)
in general, when you don't know what to blame, it's pretty safe to blame CloudFlare

Better than blaming Geobits >_>

@Downgoat did you hear me complimenting the chat skin and your fainting goats gif earlier.

But the new interface check is still checked!

@quintopia chat skin?
oh
:D

@HelkaHomba Weird, I just checked mine and it's still using the new one.

3:47 AM
Oh, it's back

Maybe it got confused by the name change. I mean, it knows Calvin's chat should use the new UI :P

How do we get swag once it's available?

be on the top two pages on the users list, ordered by rep
so, in your case, by doing nothing :P

That's it?

yep

3:52 AM
what is swag?

so what do I have to do to get on the top two pages?

@Geobits ...I don't

@quintopia free stuff that SE sends people

@AlexA. :D I kinda figured that

Do the top 10 users get more? ;D

3:52 AM
no :P

@HelkaHomba no :P

Jon Skeet got a unicorn painting at 100k but that was a one-time thing

Clearly it should be the top 30 anyway, not 10.

@Doorknob all-time?

@quintopia yeah

If no dupes, is this a good title? Markdown the Markup for Marky Markov

@Geobits hahaha

The other Q&A site I visit sometimes has 50k-"rep" users on it, which absolutely blows my mind, because on that site upvotes are +3/+5 instead of +5/+10 and there's a limit of 5 upvotes per post (additional votes don't increase a user's score).

That last part is a little weird

@Downgoat why are you in insert mode in the first place

@AlexA. ;)

@Doorknob because I'm a git commit message and I have to go to the end of the line to add some more stuff

Mini-challenge: In a language you made, round an input int to the even number nearest 0. e.g. 0->0 1->0 -1->0 2->2 -2->-2 3->2 -3->-2, etc. (golf)

Can we just make another sandbox for now?

4:24 AM
@HelkaHomba -1 Unfair language restriction

@Maltysen IIRC that was attempted a while back but it caused fragmentation and chaos

@Geobits fine. Then in a language some known ppcg user made

So... with int math it's x/2*2?

Anonymous
@HelkaHomba Seriously, 4 bytes: ,½≈τ

I'd try, but "nearest to 0" is annoying :(

@AlexA. what do I do if I hit the wrong button in a review?

Just kidding of course
But there's no undo

@Sp3000 sign(n) * floor(abs(n) / 2) * 2

@Doorknob why is abs and sign nesscary?

1 min ago, by Sp3000
I'd try, but "nearest to 0" is annoying :(

just n//2 * 2 should be enough

4:31 AM
(Darn autotype)

if you have truncating integer division
trunc(n / 2) * 2 also works

oh, i see what you mean

I already said that :/

oh :P
ninja'd by several minutes

n//2*2 won't work in, say, Python (-3 -> -4)

4:32 AM
@AquaTart what makes it new is ignoring everything else. did I mention it's the most fun on mannpower (mode with grappling hooks)?

@Sp3000 Python gives -3//2 = -2 ? That seems strange to me.

@GamrCorps Okay, thanks for the link. Looks like Dennis has also taken notice and has left a comment for the OP. If the OP doesn't fix or delete then we can take care of it.

@AlexA. Ok thanks

@Geobits not python3

Oh, so it's just another "python2 is stupid" moment?

4:34 AM
pretty much

-3//2 = -2 for both Python 2 and 3 though...

That's incorrect. Python always rounds down.
ninja'd

oh srry, my bad

None of you made python anyway ;)

4:36 AM
(-3/2).__trunc__()

Anonymous
For Python 3 it'd be lambda x:int(x/2)*2 for the shortest

I didn't make Julia either, but there's x->x÷2*2.

@Sp3000 Huh, that's good to know. If I ever ran into an issue with that in the wild, I'd be cursing until and for some duration after I learned that.

Anonymous
For Python 2 make it x/2.

@Mego Oh, int rounds towards zero?

Anonymous
4:37 AM
@Dennis It truncates, so yeah

docs.python.org/3/library/functions.html#int : "For floating point numbers, this truncates towards zero."

Anonymous
>>> int(-3/2)
-1

@Mego Now that won't work.
>>> (-3)/2
-2

Anonymous
Did I derp?

python 2 vs. 3

4:38 AM
Same thing.

no, division

x/2.

llama@llama:~$ python -c 'print(-3/2)'
-2
llama@llama:~$ python3 -c 'print(-3/2)'
-1.5

Well, it's -3//2 in Python 3, but the rounding behavior is the same.

It's for 2., which is a float and thus will make it do float div

Ironic that to make it do int division "properly" (imo), you need to do float division :D

Yeah, I get that. It just looked like part of the sentence.
I didn't notice until now that you don't end your sentences with a dot...

4:43 AM
Technically, if you wanted to end that last sentence with a period, there should be four dots at the end :P

Oh god, Geobits and I are pretty much the only ones who use periods... I hadn't noticed until now, but it will drive me crazy!

vg: get line of input (vG also works)

".": store a period in var e
ac: array-concat—non-consume mode means this gets stored in var g

The shorter version is just } enable variables, vg get input, "." get period, aC concat, consuming both args, sP print
