Q: Are humans evolving since their first appearance?

SidiusIs the evolution a very prolonged progress, or are we going to witness further evolution of the human spieces? If so, in which direction?

@SanjuktaGhosh I think your response to the comments about the transamination question makes sense - I think I will post a question on the meta site soliciting feedback from others

@rg255 I mean yes, but it's like plumbers or sales or those guys who write COBOL. We appreciate it needs to be done and that it's very hard but you could not get to me to do it for love nor money.

... I've done it for >7 years. Now I'm allergic to flies (or at least the dirt they produce)
@Resonating the first three years were voluntary unpaid work too
do you have a pet species @Resonating?

@rg255 I have pets?

no - a preferred species (if you are researching biology that is)

Not exactly. I do 'omics on Actinobacteria
but I do have a soft spot for pelagibacter ubique
Which is a truly weird organism. Doubling time 29 hours, 1.3 thousand genes, smallest known free-living genome, but during the summer comprises something like 50% of all cells in the sea.

Why do some experienced users post such low-quality questions? And why don't they pick up the message after dozens of close votes?
Anyone read that internet hoax in the octopus question? :-0 sadly, I bought it at first O.o
How are the scheduled chat sessions coming along?

That tree octopus thing is hilarious!

It is haha. Very convincingly set up :)

I remember there was a special on the Discovery channel a while back about what life on earth could look like in a few million years, and if I remember correctly tree octopi were the dominant species in that series

@CactusWoman Close: They were squid. 'squibbons'
