Is it stalking if I'm looking at a users SE profile to see if there is a alternative way to contact them about their question? (abandoned-type questions)

I think if a user drops an email address and share it publicly that should allow you to automatically invite yourself to Christmas dinner at his house...

jrg
@BrunoPereira Free food, I like it. ;P

so, no, def not stalking :D
I only check if the last login was made at the time of the question, if question was made sometime ago and last login was made at that time that should def make that question marked as abandoned no?

Unfortunately, I cannot share in your excitement as I don't follow sports :/

Oli
And people joke about not being able to understand cricket. I've no idea what's going on in most of that article. I mean:
"Midway through the second quarter, the Mayor of Swaggerfield stood above the football on the line of scrimmage, as the B.C. Lions offence huddled. Winnipeg defensive end Odell Willis barked, chirped, tried to spark something, down 11-0, with the crowd against his team and B.C. going for it on 3rd and 1, on their own 37-yard line."

I watched the game... I can explain anything you don't understand.

Oli
Those are just letters, numbers and punctuation. No sense has been used to glue them together.

Lol.
But anyway, I'm so excited because our team won... and on home turf too.

Oh, okay...I understand your excitement now
lol...all I ever know about our school's football games are which ones we win and lose, then I forget that right away XD

4:51 AM
This is a really big event here.
Winning the Grey Cup here is like winning the World Series.

I prefer watching Husky StarCraft on YouTube instead of football...even though I'm terrible at the original game and I will probably never own the sequel

boom?
@Oli any idea how Ask Ubuntu mods are handling the flood of 12.04 questions right now? Especially about how 12.04's interface will default to, such as this question asks:
0
Q: Will 12.04 default into Unity the way 11.10 did?

Dave M GWhen I upgraded to 11.10 from 11.04, on first boot I was put into the Unity shell. However, since then, I have opted to use Gnome-Classic. My question is, when Ubuntu 12.04 comes out next April, will it do the same thing and default to the Unity shell and I'll have to reinstall Gnome and Gnome-c...

or @MarcoCeppi even.

Hey guys I'm planning to use owncloud2 for sharing purposes
however I already have 2 working websites on same machine
can anyone help me with what is it that I need to change in given information to make everything work
?
current directory structure is /var/www/<website1> and /var/www/<website2>
assuming I create /var/www/owncloud will it work with <server address>/owncloud
or do I need to change sites-available and sites-enabled as well?

6:12 AM
@ThomasWard I believe these need to be flagged as Too Localized...even though I find it hard to imagine 12.04 will use anything other than Unity for the default

Q: When are questions about "ubuntu+1" appropriate?

Jorge Castro"ubuntu+1" is the developmental release of Ubuntu, so it changes every day so it can cause people to have lots of problems and ask for help. Some general guidelines to refer to, if you're interested.

@WarriorIng64 i should know that, i've commented on that thread before ;P
@WarriorIng64 back when my name was EvilPhoenix, TheEvilPHoenix, or The Evil ONe ;P
@WarriorIng64 fwiw, though, i wanted to know what the mods said
without using those guidelines each time ;P

Sorry about that, then...didn't realize
I dunno...any mods on right now?

well its flagged anyways
and with my 614 flag weight it should sit high-ish on the queue.

Flagged, too...I think my 667 flag weight will help ;)

;P
667 + 614 = very high
since its multiflagged
except i didnt use the too localized statement...
i did the "Needs mod attention" one, then "other", then said "too localized. see meta post: meta.askubuntu.com/questions/871/… "
with the link there

my goal was 500 flag weight
i got that a while ago

wait
when did they add another flag weight badge?
and is that a gold one?

Yeah, it's gold...where did the badges page go?
I keep forgetting, especially with the profile layout change, lol
derp...it's a big fat button at the top of the site :P

:P
For a minute, there, I was wondering where your mind went... ;p

Same here XD
Yeah, Marshal's in there: "Achieved a flag weight of 749 by reviewing and flagging appropriately"

749 for the marshal badge...

I think I've had quite enough of people not knowing the difference between GNOME Classic and GNOME Fallback...I'm posting a question for disambiguation purposes.
Inconsistent terminology is a pet peeve of mine.
0
Q: Which is correct: "GNOME Classic" or "GNOME Fallback"?

WarriorIng64Since the availability of Unity and GNOME Shell, I have noticed widespread confusion over whether the more "traditional" version of the GNOME desktop environment should be referred to as "GNOME Classic" or "GNOME Fallback" in 11.04, 11.10 and later. What is the correct terminology to use? Also, ...

I'm having some troubles with my apache. In apache for windows I (to put myself accessible on my local network) would open httpd.conf and change Listen whatever to Listen *:80
httpd.conf in Apache for ubuntu is empty - looks like most is in apache2.conf. but Listen
so i added it to httpd.conf and hoped for the best - restarted apache - now I have apache running on 127.0.0.1 and 127.0.1.1
I'm so confused.

Q: No, I don't want persistent net rules

lazyrI have a bootable Linux memstick that I use on a lot of different PCs (but all of the same model and configuration). Trouble is that udev is renaming the eth interfaces so that what was eth0 on the last PC is suddenly ethX, where X=1..inf. This causes if-up (called by ifplugd) to fail, since /etc...

Q: newbie: cd to a directory

MellonI am a newbie in Linux, and I am using Ubuntu now. I know by using cd ~/ , I can go to home/ directory. But if I want to go to the directory(I do not know the official name of this directory) which contains etc/, var/, opt/, ... sub-directories, what is the symbol used to refer to this director...

ok here's an odd scenario ...
I've got a hard drive with the contents of my /home directory at home, but I'm installing the machine at work right now... will it be possible to bring the hard drive with me tomorrow and change the mount point after installing?

@MarcoCeppi its ready for use, it installs, runs with 2 users: admin and anonymous on port 2121, I can implement some config changes hooks tonight (add user, remove user, port change, etc)

@BrunoPereira Is it on LP yet?

@MarcoCeppi yeah, there is a bug report on the charms LP with the link
@MarcoCeppi havent got any feedback yet on bot the teamspeak and this ftp-server charm, more input = more features, more config hooks implemented :)

@BrunoPereira make sure you push to ~brunopereira81/charm/oneiric/apache-ftpserver/trunk instead of +junk :)
I'll take a look through the teamspeak one in a few hours for ya as an initial review :)

3:50 PM
@MarcoCeppi thx, Ill push them both to a new trunk. If I get time Ill at least implement the port change hook on the ftp server.

Somehow didn't work for me :P

@AmithKK hi

@Oli leader board shows some counting problems for me, have a look

@Oli also, do questions only show up for one person?

@MarcoCeppi Now thats awesome

let's say I left a comment
do I need to keep track of the question and check up on it another time?
or does it go back in the pool?

@Oli never, I figured it out (its the score you get, not the amount of solved situations)

4:01 PM
@MarcoCeppi Bug confirmed: Chromifiy-OSD is broken

I am guessing that if you still have that question on your list it wont be back to the pool until one of the ending scenarios happens.
