@EnergyNumbers @Earthliŋ @THelper: we have an aquaponics question on Gardening & Landscaping that is off-topic for us since it's about the animals in the system, not the plants. There was some discussion of it on G&L meta and pets meta, and later suggestions in comments that it might find a home here.

I was pinged about it in chat last night, but not being a mind reader, didn't realize that the pinger meant to migrate it here, so I asked the pets mods. They say they'll take it, but before I do, I'd like to check if it would it be better here?

Also, please weigh in on the topic of where aquaponics questions belong.

@NiallC. I guess the most suitable site depends on the goal of the aquaponics system. If the goal is to live more sustainably and less dependent on external resources then I'd say it's best here. If the goal is merely keeping fish for fun then it goes to Pets SE.

and if the question is primarily about the plants used in aquaponics then it goes to Gardening?

BTW, the tag wiki for aquaponics is plagiarized on sustainability.se. Possibly from the wiki on gardening.se, but googling the text shows lots of hits so I haven't found the source.

There's a [citation needed] in there, but the wikipedia article doesn't match.
