Oh!
I had a question I remember what it was now.
Is anyone aware of a spell like the classic Ultima spell? That one spell that does a ton of damage but takes awhile to cast?
Pathfinder

There must be one I'll take a look
@Aaron You could cast multiple delayed fireballs in a row and have them all activate at the same time for massive damage.

@mbriand Awesome idea! I didn't think of that. And the character I am making this for has an ability to cast spells delayed up to 5 rounds. Cast it once each round and on the last round massive damage!
@mbriand The user can cast two spells per round that each deal 120 damage. 5 rounds of that total up to 1200 damage.

@Aaron That's pretty amazing but how is he taking advantage of that? How will he stay safe in all those rounds he's casting? Silent Still casting or something?

@mbriand He is part of a group of 9 wizards I am designing. He could easily just have them hold off the opponent.

Pretty nice one of them could specialize in delaying combat to let him do his thing

@mbriand Maximised time stop?

@mbriand If anyone is interested we can move the convo to my encounter room. My players frequent this chat so I would rather move there if we continue. I will post a link if anyone does want to continue. I want to iron out some details like Jonathan as well.

Sounds good

There ya go.

To explain one thing the concept of the 9 wizards is based on a 3pp called Spheres of power. It has 20 spheres much like wizard schools. I made each of the 9 have 2 of the spheres with the leader having an extra 2 spheres. None of them have any overlap.
@BESW Thanks

For the delaying spells as an initial option I was thinking forcecage since it lets the PC's simmer and try to find a way to get out early

The encounter I am going to be introducing them in is going to be a war where my players are fighting off demons and trying to hold back their growing power as the gates of the abyss are unlocked one at a time. The wizards are going to show up and pretty much demolish the army using their combined power and then the leader is going to use the "ultima" spell to one shot a balor
@mbriand Oh the wizard is a good guy. :) If I pitted my PCs against these wizards they wouldn't last a round. They are highly optimized and when they are together unstoppable. They are meant to be able to pull of deity like feats when they pool their power. I have had a blast making them and they will probably be a staple in all of my future campaigns because I like them so much and worked my arse off to make them.

@Aaron Oh well then yeah time stop is perfect as that's pretty much the ultimate pathfinder spell

Really? I always though it was meh. Let me look again.
@mbriand That... Is not what I thought it did. I thought it just granted you an extra standard action. But 1d4+1 whole turns. Damn.
@mbriand How does this sound then. (This might take a sec to type up.)
Zavier looks to the balor and simply smiles looking at his companions and nodding. They backed off all smiling knowing exactly what he was doing. He then focuses back on the Balor and holds his hand out. "You have overstayed your welcome beast. Back to the Abyss with you." He says and starts to snap his fingers. (Time Stop) While everyone is frozen he quickly prepares and casts his ultima spell. (End stop) As his fingers snap the balor is slammed from all around by force (10 force spells dealing
120 damage each for a total of 1200 damage.) and roars out as he is crushed by the force before he has a chance to do anything aside from the roar. The remaining demons screech as their leader falls and they flee back into the gates they entered through.

@Aaron Seems great, how do the players stay relevant though when those guys seem to have the power to fix any problem?

4:32 AM
@mbriand The wizards are level 20 capped. My players will be going all the way to 40 and will have Mythic Levels.
Plus once I introduce the wizards they have the option to train under them and learn the new powers as a free retrain. (This encounter is also me introducing Spheres of Power into my game.)

@Aaron Is that supported in pathfinder? I thought there weren't any epic rules...

@mbriand There isn't. They don't level in the same class but take multiple classes.
And I just make up monsters as I go. Take Monster X up it's HD and give it a few nasty powers. Ect
