@BenVlodgi lol
@BenVlodgi if I didn't need money right now I would agree with you. but some of those websites are personal projects and money makers all at the same time

@Malachi That's even a better combination!

@konijn Nice work on the Javascript stuff man check out these links and you will see what I am talking about

Well, it's been interesting on CodeReview, but we have been tackling our problems.
You may be interested in some of the progress we have made, because it appears that you (programmers) may be running in to similar problems. For example, consider this chart:
http://data.stackexchange.com/programmers/query/172449/tagged-zombie-timeseries?Weeks=52&TopTags=15#graph
and compare it with this:
http://data.stackexchange.com/codereview/query/172449/tagged-zombie-timeseries?Weeks=52&TopTags=15#graph
The above show how our unanswered questions are coming down now

@Malachi I heard yah, money can be a necessity I suppose

6:17 PM
@Malachi It's fun, mostly ;)

@BenVlodgi I would rather get paid to work on games and stuff though.....lol

I posted an answer to a Java/Android Zombie two hours ago and still no vote on it? What is that?

I am trying to force my old XNA game to work in Xamarin right now on my new machine...first it was the content stuff and now it is my Highscores manager that is hosing things up. I did some bad things to get it to work under XNA, at least I think they are bad things. I might rip it out and fix the damage and then try to reinsert it. maybe have someone review my highscores class
@SimonAndréForsberg what question?

@Malachi glad you asked :)

A: Animated ScrollView

Simon André ForsbergThe biggest change I can see here would be to extract a class out of the two anonymous inner classes. The two variations are exactly the same except for which ObjectAnimator they should call next, and which logging tag to use. So let's extract a class and pass those values to its constructor: (Pl...

@SimonAndréForsberg I started an answer on that question but never made it into an answer.

@Malachi me too
@Malachi I hate trying to get XNA games to work on different machines
I always had a problem with resolutions not being properly detected on certain screens
soooo annoying

@Malachi You should have yelled at her and told her that she's too young to go on dates. You're setting a bad example. =)

@Malachi like playing on XBOX vs PC made the resolution detection just bork

Congrats!!!

Thanks Jamal... see, oncoming train!

@rolfl: Join me in our Mod Room.

You're going to have to give me a few minutes to get oriented here.

Didn't Pops give you the rundown?

7:09 PM
He said you knew everything and I could just watch for a few months ;-)

Yeah. :-) I mean, I should discuss most of this in the Mod Room. You should be able to see it.

I already reloaded the chat to blueify your name

Maybe it takes some time. I also reloaded.

No wonder, fish swims in water... the water must have colored on to him...

@BenVlodgi yeah that isn't the issue just yet but I am porting to MonoGame

BLue?

7:23 PM
@rolfl Not yet.

200 is blue. Perhaps your room ownership is taking precedence.

Surely it should be possible to be both blue and italics?

Jamal is ;-)
So, I can be patient.... Teachers is blocked

@200_success: Can you access Teachers' Lounge?

Congrats @200_success and @rolfl

Even though all our mods is more or less in the same time zone, I don't think that is going to matter much, especially considering @Jamal's (lack of) sleeping habits.

11 upvotes in 7 minutes. :-)

looks like there's community consensus with our new moderators :)

Hm. Perhaps I should've left some flags for them. :P

@200_success, @rolfl: Congrat guys!

Q: Code-Challenge #2

Mat's Mug(what's this all about?) Post-Mortem In February 2014, we rebooted weekend-challenge and created a code-challenge tag. @Mat'sMug there is already a LinkedList submission for the challenge

yeah?

my keyboard slipped :P
I feel in a good mood though so I think submissions for Puyo and Collections are OK, but I am hoping to see some nice card fighting ones.

I don't think we'll see a puyo implementation though (unless I make one?)

Someone did downvote my previous election entry. From what I've seen, there will always be downvotes in these situations.

@Marc-Andre Huh, oh well. Someone probably doesn't approve of the new mods.

@Mat'sMug @SimonAndréForsberg Would you like to add some tagging guidelines for submissions for Code Challenge #2?

@200_success It says 'Please tag questions/entries with game, code-challenge, as well as any other applicable tag(s).' in the question, should I write that in my answer too? (I don't think there are any additional specific applicable tags)

Finally, @rolfl is blue!

Yeah .... patience will win out ;-)

@SimonAndréForsberg Ah, I was looking for the guidelines in the answer, not the question.

Q: Most efficient way to use dictionary brute force to find DES encrypted password?

AndyDisclaimer: This is for school, nothing illicit or black hat. Assuming someone used a dictionary password, is this most efficient way to find password? Also should I do some error checking for the dictionary file or does the while condition take care of this? #include <stdio.h> #include <crypt.h>

@rolfl ssh, you're a backup for when he's not there ;)
You need to post answers :D

I do.

I really look up to @Jamal though, he manages to do well on university, moderate CR like a boss and sleep whenver he wants... While I am struggling with only university already.

Relatively well, I'd say. Getting As in classes is getting more and more harder.

Well, what your are you on university now?

I feel like I worded things poorly and the example could probably be simplified, but my brain isn't working right now.

Can this auto-comment be improved?
Welcome to CR! Sorry to be the "close police", but per our help center this question appears to be off-topic because it is about debugging non-working code. Have you tried getting help on Stack Overflow? Once you have it working as intended, feel free to post another question, or to edit this one so as to match the site's scope (we'll reopen the question then). — Mat's Mug 27 secs ago

Yeah, it could. For one thing, the OP isn't brand new (but new enough). And the "close police" part may not be necessary.

10:52 PM
Yeah it's been bothering me... I added that part after frustrating a user once
"I'll delete the question just to make you and the close police happy" somewhat got to me then..

@Jamal Moderators shouldn't lie!
@Mat'sMug Once the close police, not necessarily always the close police.

But the OP isn't asking for a review, either.

Close vote retracted, but the question could be reworded to make it clearer that OP is looking for a review, not for specific help fixing/removing/addressing those warnings. — Mat's Mug 2 mins ago

@Mat'sMug Have a look at my auto-comment:
> Welcome to Code Review! It seems like you have misunderstood what this site is about. We help with improving the cleanliness of existing, working code. We are not the site to ask for help in fixing or changing what your code does. Once the code does what you want, we would love to help you do the same thing in a cleaner way!

A: Using properties efficiently in inheritance

Mat's Mug@UriAgassi made very good points, I'm just going to add a few thoughts: In the context of a Mailer class, the name Cname isn't absolutely clear. One of the benefits of encapsulation, is the possibility for abstraction - the code that uses a Mailer object doesn't need to know/care that the HTTP ...

A: Console command tool

Jamal While it is okay to put using namespace std in a local scope (such as a function), it's especially problematic to put it into a header file. By doing this, anyone including it will be forced to have that namespace code exposed globally, and you shouldn't force that on anyone. Although the std ...

I think the question about js-lint is perfectly on-topic. I haven't used JSLint much (as I try to avoid JS entirely), but AFAIK it's a tool to measure the quality of JavaScript code. The OP is getting warnings, that might be indications of code smells.
You might want to ask @konijn exactly what JSLint is though...

I think this should've been posted on Programmers:

@SimonAndréForsberg in other words, some kind of R# for JS?
@SimonAndréForsberg you write threaded code?

A: Is this use of a resource based on session ids thread safe?

Mat's MugIn this answer I explain in details why one should not throw System.Exception. You should be throwing InvalidOperationException in the case of the astronomically unlikely situation, and probably an ArgumentException in the case of the non-existing session. As far as thread safety is concerned, I...

^^ I'm sure anyone could write a better answer than that

@Jamal I'm not so sure about that, judging by what they seemed to think of the other question we've talked about in chat earlier today, they wouldn't want that question.
@Mat'sMug Didn't know R# did any quality checks for the code. I'd say it's kind of like the FindBugs plugin for Eclipse... but you probably don't know what that is :)
And yes, I write threaded code, will take a look
@Mat'sMug Does IDictionary interface provide the TryXXX-methods? If it does, I'd add a part about declaring for interface.

Unrelated, but I've been fiddling with VB6 CallByName today, I'm about to implement a strategy pattern in VB6, might post something to review later
@SimonAndréForsberg yup, does (sorry last post was phone post, and then I had some diapers to change!)
@SimonAndréForsberg There's TryGetValue, but TryAdd and TryRemove are implementation-specific.
