Nowadays instead of SSL we usually use TLS (with clients and servers which can fall back to SSL (or previous versions of TLS) if necessary).
So, should the tag better be named , with a synonym?

I often say "SSL/TLS"
as an acronym, "SSL" is much more widely known than "TLS"

So, a [tag:ssl/tls] (or the other way around)?
(seems like / is not allowed in tag names.)

the '/' appears to be troublesome for the tag name
I would say: is the "normal tag", and is an alias

> SSL (or Secure Sockets Layer) and its successor TLS (Transport Layer Security) are protocols which provide communication security (privacy and integrity) for a bidirectional data channel.
(Maybe without the "or".)
> They are usually used on top of a transport layer protocol like TCP, either below or integrated in application layer protocols.

(submitted a bit longer version of this.)

I am again out of votes
It will have to wait tomorrow, or another mod

Yes, is not urgent. Thanks.
Any idea on how to abbreviate [differential-cryptanalysis]? It is 26 characters long, one too much. We could ommit the -, but this does not look nice.

I have encountered "differential analysis" as a synonym
in crypto.SE on can assume that "crypt" is involved pretty much everywhere

Sounds good.

A: The big tag naming discussion

Paŭlo Ebermanndifferential-cryptanalysis would be the optimal tag for Differential Cryptanalysis. But this tag name is (one character) too long. Currently differential is in use, but that is a bit poor. (Also, not really specific.) In the chat Thomas Pornin just proposed the naming differential-analysis. ...
