@Scott ...but when is eventually? I'm pretty sure the head of Sony said that they were focusing on the main stuff but the peripheries would come later...does anybody know when later is?
Well if you look at the playstation 3... it originally did not support 3D Blu-Ray. A system upgrade allowed it to. So it appears that's how Sony is approaching the PS4... releasing it WELL below where the PS3 currently it, in the hopes that people have "faith" that eventually the system will do as much (and more) than the PS3 currently does.
All I can say is that today, right now, my Playstation 4 will only accomplish 50% of the tasks my Playstation 3 does. The Playstation 3, while not as powerful a system, has MANY more features than the Playstation 4 currently does.
From the reading I've done, Microsoft did things right with the XBox One.
The XBox One does everything the XBox 360 does plus has new features. MS started with the 360 as a baseline then released a machine that goes above that.
Sony started with thePS3 as a baseline and fell EXCEPTIONALLY short of that baseline. As I posted, the PS4 is like a super powered, network capable PS2, that's all.
I'll be in a much better position to compare the PS4 and the XBox One next week when I have both systems. Right now all I can do is compare the PS4 to the PS3, and the PS3 wins hands-down when comparing features.
And FYI @JohnB @Matt_2.0 @Yisella the main site no longer has a way to tell when someone has pinged you in chat. That's not a good thing.
That's pretty disappointing hopefully the ps4 improvenents will be sooner rather than later though. Once it is fully equiped it should be a beast. It sounds like the xbox is just more 'finished' than the ps4. Oh and isn't the ps4 quite welcoming foe Indies now too
Perhaps by Christmas 2014 you will be happier with the ps4.
Yeah I've always been a Playstation guy over an Xbox guy. LOVE my PS3 (actually own 2 I like them so much). But I was terribly disappointed in the PS4. It is fast and looks nice, but there are software issues I just really dislike. It will grow to be a great system, problem is I have no idea how long Sony will take to do that. The PS3 took 3-5 years.
Man of Steel 3D..... You get a message "This Blu-Ray 3D requires a Blu-Ray 3D player and a 3D Display. Your Blu-Ray player has not detected a 3D display. This may be due ot a connection or configuration issue. [OKAY]"
Click the OKAY button and the movie plays, but it's both halves of the 3D so it's split screen
So.. without a 3D tv.. the 3D blu-Rays aren't good. But Most also come witha standard Blu0ray and a regular DVD (Man of Steel Did) so you actually get all formats in one purchase. Those are the only ones I'll buy anymore
Yeah I've got 4 Discs in most 3D blu-Rays. So check.. the price is really close to standard Blu-Rays and I think all my 3D discs also have at least a regular Blu-Ray disc as well
@Scott That's not the case. You'll get a notification in your inbox for chat messages just like you would before - i.e. if you're not actually in chat to see the pings in real time.
Where "real time" is "within some small number of minutes".
When I first noticed the lack of the notice, the Pings occurred over an hour before I noticed them. There are inbox notices if you click your inbox. Previously the ping simply showed in the nav bar so you knew about it. Currently the inbox doesn't highlight or have any other indicator that there's been a ping until you click on the inbox. That is the problem one must continually click the inbox icon to see if they've been pinged.
I'll be interested to see what questions are posted. I can honestly only come up with 1 question that I'd like to ask at this point, so no point in committing
I'll ask it on the public beta if it makes it that far
@ckpepper02 tryin to do something similar to sed in linux but how do you output the data within a given point, such as id="3232" in this case the 3232?
@ckpepper02 they are like evil trolls with no sensor.. I hate walking into one and all the little eyes look at you.. come running and tell you exactly what is on their minds.. no sencorship!
so i thought about making a deal with the devil... or work.. I told them I wanted to really dive into php, and their comeback was, awesome, we can get you all the resources you want but we expect you to automate or production and I will be given time at work to learn... tempting..
I think Jenna comes in and out because she is waiting for me to leave ;)
Well that goes without saying :) Actually not a lot of vodka but Jameson whiskey and of course Guinness are our big boys here, you can tour the storehouses and get a complimentary drink at the end.
Hmmm Ireland is like a less refined France but has some pretty scenery. This little country will never e the Bahamas :D Irish cities love tourists, as a nation we're particularly friendly, that stereotype I would agree with
the part that isn't mentioned is the higher charge on products for tourists
There are lots of street performers though and it's super cheap to hop across to other parts of Europe
Unless it were a week or so of a family holiday I would suggest doing Ireland as a quick trip while travelling elsewhere. It is good for families though as a stay here a while kind of thing
back in the old days when Americans had what was called probation, basically it was illegal to drink anything, southerns would make their own alcohol from wheat known as mash
real shine is very bubbly and very strong proof. Many years ago I would buy some from someone and I would buy a new jar of cherries, dran the fluid and fill the jar with shine and eat them while playing poker en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonshine
Hahaha actually though one of my favourite things now is the nights that I amn't drinking and get to remember all sorts for my friends to cringe about :D Yeah people like to think they are super drunk all the time though, it's interesting
I'm off for a while again - be back later :)
Let me know when you give yourfriends that drink, it'll make for a great story :D
