font-encodings is now at 118 questions, with the retagging of encodings questions still missing. I think egreg will be awared a new tag badge soon. ;-)

Your windows system has a problem. Reboot your computer system. If the reboot does not help check which other programm you have running causing your problems as the microsoft site said.
There is a popup for the MiKTeX package manager, which asks me about installing new package. But it is irritating, as it happens every time I compile? How to stop this.
I did the step: Refresh FNDB, but doesn't help.

I am having some installation problem. I tried installing MikTeX couple of times and each time when I try to compile some words on TeXmaker, the program says 'could not start the command'.
I have already tried some of the answers that I found on here such as

Is there any way to export this table that contains images without having to export each image separately? Or would it be better to just save the Excel file as a PDF and merge with the document at the end?

@Werner does so, I tested it before posting, you need the version with a space at the end (which is why use csname)
@Werner actually the fact that you need the space version indicates some dubious processing earlier, the author list has \protect\textsuperscript<space> but really depending on the setting of \protect used while expanding the list earlier it should be ``\protect\textsuperscript` or \textsuperscript<space>

@Werner Well, ask @David, he always says "don't fight \tracingall". And the truth is, deep tracing of the expansion has helped me several times in situation like this one.
@tohecz Yes, I know, thanks. The secret was in the space after \textsuperscript. And, this was difficult to spot since \tracing...does show all the tokens, with spaces between then already... :-|

OP claims that \leavevmode is not required, but with the current versions of the packages it is.
Do we have a question regarding the capture of the end-of-line character. For example, if one wishes to define a macro that captures everything up to the end-of-line?
...like \def\myitem#1\par{<do stuff with #1>}...
...but this requires an explicit \par.
I'll ask on the main site if there's nothing to be found.

None the less, the character U+2C7A (an O with a ring INside) is being displayed a blank square. I picked the letter via Kcharselect, so it exists. It is in the plane Latin -Extended C
Do I have a conflict with \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} , that is do I need a different encoding?

@Dan Depends on what you're after I guess. Some things are easier with LyX, and if you're just doing fairly simple things you don't have to know any code. Some things can be more "clumsy", or cumbersome though. Personally, I prefer writing the LaTeX code myself.
