This person's orbit is a little too high.
@tunny: You taught English for forty years and now you baulk at having to look up a smattering of newer terms in order to understand posts on the internet? o.O Learning an evolving language applies to everyone, and I would have expected a teacher to know that, rather than suggesting that the newer terms should be outright banned!! — Lightness Races in Orbit 5 hours ago

Hi guys
Guys, I've been having problem with peeing too many times a day so I went to Urologist today to figure out why. However, they told me they want to shove up some line of camera into my ding-dong so I told them "no-way".
I can accept others to do whatever operations they want to any part of my body except for my ding-dong and balls.
Wow, they kicked me out from Javascript chat.

Q: Hats are coming

Matt ЭлленWinterbash 2014 is on its way. It will run from 15 December 2014 to 4 January 2015. As with last year, if you don't want hats you can opt out. There is also the possibility of the whole site opting out before it starts. Nobody wants that, though, right?

@EnglishMaster no worries

r u brit?

@EnglishMaster I R

Guys, isn't it interesting how people tend to hang out with others with similar personality and even their look?
I had 1 girlfriend in my life (merely a girlfriend because our relationship ended so quickly due to little experience in love and date) and she was virgin for sure just like me.
Last time I asked her to hug me and she doesn't know where to surround her arms on my body. She ended up putting her arms around my shoulder without considering that I'm 178 CM tall and she is like 168 tall.

9:11 AM
Hi

I have the "Too Many Cooks" song in my head. Well, the hook of it, anyway. Stupid earworms.

Yes, ear worms can be distracting.
To say the least :)
Wanna see what I suggested on meta?

What I am suggesting here is a form of self-government. Since, the system records and graphs the activity of all the users in the room, why not choose the room owner based on that data, rather than the current system? If you want to be a room owner it is only fair that you should actively participate in that room.

That already happens, I think, but only for low activity rooms. Kit (before she was a moderator) gained ownership of the overlook hotel because she was most active

9:27 AM
Oh yeah, I forgot about that :/
I want it on the most active rooms too.

the problem with that is that it would encourage people to post cavalcades of spurious nonsense to gain ownership of a room.

I love to call noobs "wank-stain". It's just a satisfying insult.

Why do you want to insult people?
Especially strangers on the internet.

It a medical treatment for my various diseases that I currently have. I think they were mostly caused by stress I get from life; trolls, family and etc. So it's a great way to release it.

Like "kicking the dog"?

9:33 AM
Yeah. By the way, have you seen Fury yet?

No.

I watched it yesterday and the movie was about Percy Jackson gets to survive at the end of bloody hell fight against German SS Nazis they encounter after their tank gets destroyed.

icic

By the way, my war-name is "Russian"

Why did you get kicked out of the JavaScript chat room?

9:40 AM
@skullpatrol I'll bestow your war-name "Brit"
I have no idea. I think those people are too crazy about Javascript, language used to show funny alter messages on your website.

My war-name is warlord skullpatrol ;-)

Private Brit, what the hell are you talking about?

:O
I'm only a private?

Yeah, I'm Sergent Russian.
@MattЭллен He is Corporal Korean.

I'm War Lord Darth Raider leader of the dark side.

9:46 AM
Shut up and drink some tea.

Are you @EnglishMaster loyal to the dark side?

sure, darkness protects me. I am dark all the way except for skin.

good

@JohanLarsson This guy is First Private, "Good-Boy"

don't ever tell me to "shut up" again pal @EnglishMaster

9:50 AM
@skullpatrol Are you trying to revolt against me Private Brit?
Oh boy

You don't know me.

First Private Good-Boy will whoop you soon.

I don't know you.

Ok, it's doesn't matter. I'm going to go and watch Hunger Game Mocking Jay
and tell you its story-line

Happy Tea Time mate.

10:04 AM
@MattЭллен This kind of change in the system would make full use of those who are most likely to be actually in the room and participating during flagging of comments, temporary banning, etc.

10:20 AM
Wah, there is a couple of magnificent retards sitting behind my row. They were actually singing "Twinkle Twinkle little stars" when they were climbing up stairs looking for their alphabatical order of seats.
Like A B C D E F G H I (twinkle twinkle little stars), there you go.
Private Brit, shoot them now!
Quick question, what is a sigular term of one half of a couple?

An individual.

It doesnt sound "lovely" enough to apply on one half of a couple. It sounds too solid

well, half of a couple is one, right?

Hmm, sounds too subtituting.

(1/2)*2=1

10:29 AM
Sorry I didnt mean that.
I meant too "replacing", not being original

@EnglishMaster Is this correct?
"Once opened, you have to eat it within 3 months."

sounds fine to me

Yeah, too right.

too right?

Spot on.

10:33 AM
"one half of a couple" only has one meaning pal

Thanks
Wow, too right is an idiom
I've never heard it.

Its too complicated. Give me a smart word instead.

@medica I've never seem him in here.

this question:
1
Q: Must a new speaker's dialog start a new paragraph even in the middle of one sentence?

BG_____My sample: Then right after I said, “Some shocking statement,” she said, “Oh!” Or must it be: Then right after I said, “Some shocking statement,” she said, “Oh!”

is the same as this:
6
Q: Must every piece of speech get its own paragraph?

Joe Z.I've had a few people read pieces of narrative writing I've done, and they seem to take issue with the fact that I sometimes put a piece of speech inline with the rest of a non-dialogue paragraph, like so: Jill found a box of mints she liked, and took them off the shelf. She walked up to the ...

and that was originally asked here at EL&U before being migrated to WSE.
so what to do with the new one?

voted to close as off-topic with that as a close reason
anyway, I found that writers one when just searching Google: speaker dialog paragraph
the E&LU question was hit 1, the WSE hit 2

Nice find :-)

@Hugo I guess it should be migrated then closed as a dupe
but migrating a question to get closed...
it feels wrong

But it feels so right
But it is wasted effort

12:16 PM
Like sending someone to the chair :(

When you could just push them down the stairs?

Ah, thanks for the memories };-)

Haha. What? Memories from where?
Also half of a couple is a single. It's also half of a double but words are funny like that.

Single=individual

HAHAHA WORDS ARE SO HILARIOUS

-_-

That reminds me of a joke

No particular joke. Just that jokes are funny too

Define: joke

What do you guys personally think about prostitution? How devil do you think it is out of 10 devilish points?
Lets say murdur is 10 out of 10 devilish points.

12:38 PM
10 is the highest evil?

What is zero?
Also are you allowing -10?

Yeah
Im not trying to justify prostitution isnt so evil compare to murdur so oneday I can hire one and fdel no regret
I just want to hear ur opinion

I would give it a solid 8

Hmm whst about going to a club?
What*

12:45 PM
That's just entertainment.
Unless it's a strip club.

Do you mean going to a strip club?

Even a strip club is a only a 4 or 6
Depending on what you do there.

Damn, is prostitution that bad? Are you considering that it is a serious job for some people who declared it as their profession and have nothing else to do other that that?

There are more honest ways of making money.

Allowing yourself to accept money so that someone can have sex with you is not evil. The problems only arise from other people. e.g. if you don't want to allow people to pay you for sex, but are being forced to, or the people paying for sex aren't playing by the rules you set up for such interactions.
so it's a 0 for me

12:54 PM
It does come down to what you will do for money.
Is that not the definition of "greed"?

I would think "greed" is wanting more than you need and not allowing others their fair share

Is that not avarice?

is that not a synonym?

Hmm. Well.

Remember we're talking about money for sex here. If you pay a hooker more money she will have sex with more men at one time. That is greed.
Ask any hooker.

1:01 PM
???????
What's evil about prostitution? The only "evil" thing about it is the horrible way that many prostitutes are taken advantage of and treated in that world.
Apart from that (which is a big issue), sex between two consenting adults be it for fun or money is not evil. Why should it be?
I find it sad that people would want/need to pay for it mind but evil?

user116848
@terdon Then what about all the diseases, STDs etc. That looks pretty evil.

@Arrowfar That has nothing to do with prostitution.

Nothing?

Obviously, prostitutes are a high risk group, so perhaps are more troubled by that than others but again, that's not "evil".
I am not defending prostitution as it is today. I just wouldn't call it evil and in any case, if anyone were evil it'd be the client and not the prostitute.

the client and/or the people who "own" the prostitute

1:07 PM
^^
The prostitute her/himself is the one I have the least problems with in the whole thing.

Like I said, there are more honest ways to make money.

@skullpatrol But what's dishonest about prostitution? It's about a honest and straightforward as it gets.

indeed

It is illegal.

Compared to pretty much anything. Far more dishonest to be selling something in a store where you need to convince your client that they need it/want it/can use it/ etc.

1:09 PM
Paying for sex is legal here, it's just all the steps getting to that point are illegal.

@skullpatrol In a few countries, yes. Not in many others.

The most populated ones?

so you can't ask a prostitute for sex and a prostitute can't ask you for money

Now, that is evil. Making prostiturion illegal is idiotic, counterproductive and downright harmful to everyone involved.
I don't know of any European country where it is illegal. There may well be but I can't think of one off the top of my head.

China and India.

1:10 PM
What about them?

That is where it is illegal.

Well, yeah. Not exactly great models of social reform there are they? :)

And they are the most populated countries in the world.

Yup, as I expected, the US is pretty much the only country in the Western world where it is illegal.

Just spent a few minutes searching for the "expert" button a NNS QA person told me didn't work, before I finally realized she meant the "export" button.

1:13 PM
Green is legal and regulated, red illegal, blue is "Selling sexual services legal, but not regulated; brothels are illegal" and
@skullpatrol According to that map, it's not illegal in India either.

You do have a good point there.

@Robusto looks like they need an export user to test your code

inorite

It's just mind-numbingly idiotic to make it illegal. It certainly does not stop it (or even make a dent in it). It just pushes it into the shadows where all the really bad things happen.

I'm just thinking about the worlds opinion in terms of numbers.

1:16 PM
@terdon We like to keep a lot of the old-school traditions alive.

@Robusto Ha! Prostitution being illegal is most certainly not "old school"! More like modern stupidity :)

So you say.

What percentage of the worlds population classifies it as illegal?

Actually, prostitution is legal in Nevada.

@skullpatrol Have a look at how many prostitutes there are in the countries where it's illegal. I very much doubt they will be fewer.
I wonder who was the first to think of making it illegal actually. I'm guessing some religious fanatics or others. The puritans maybe?

Guys, I was away for awhile because I was epic ganking Russians in Dota.
What do you think about this song?

Umm... you probably don't want to know what I think of the song. The video is most certainly disturbing.

@JohanLarsson: I learned a Swedish word today: jantelagen. Does that describe you?
@cornbreadninja麵包忍者: What's up with the Chiefs? They can't beat an 0-10 team f'realz?

@Robusto Jantelagen is a noun. I'm not sure it describes me but others should judge that.

@JohanLarsson Do you think yourself to be modest and forbearing?

forbearing > $5
'Du ska inte tro att du är något' is the only paragraph in jantelagen.

@JohanLarsson TheFreeDictionary is, well, free

4:19 PM
Maybe it is so popular here since we have a tradition of being social democrats.
I'm pretty forbearing on the internet :)

And I haven't seen you drunk yet, so I must withhold judgment.

Not so much when I see dumb code irl.
I have chatted drunk many times.
Might do it tonight :)

But you could have been a bot. How would I know?

Drunk and forbearing?

@Robusto Would it change much if we met? Look at T2 for example.

4:22 PM
You are the terminator? I didn't know.

I published another beautiful foss-lib that no one will ever use today :)

T2 is the nice Arnold Schwarzennegger. Or at least the one on our side.

They hacked him.

@JasperLoy Wow. That reminds me of the devil's dictionary definition of telephone:
> TELEPHONE, n. An invention of the devil which abrogates some of the advantages of making a disagreeable person keep his distance.
Letting us know about that level of detail in your life abrogates some of the advantages of not being there to notice it ourselves :)

I am very happy with Ubuntu Mate 14.04 so far, no problems at all.

Cool!

@terdon Haha. Very true.
But at least you can not pick it up...

But then, you can't put it down either so I suppose they balance each other out.

That is indeed a problem...
Do you still use your phone to call people much?
I do so less and less.

@Robusto oof
@skullpatrol y'all got a little nasty at the end there.

They are the nasty boys.

@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 I'm not nasty, I'm merely a horrible human being.

@Robusto oh, well. Maybe Krampus will spare you this year.

My name is Janet, miss Jackson if you're nasty :D

It's not my fault. I'm dealing with pineapple devs who say things like "does it worked without Error?"
