And yes, that is Internet Explorer 11

It's amusing when people feel obliged to apologise for their choices.... ;-)

@IsmaelMiguel huh? What VB code?

@RubberDuck The tic-tac-toe

Oh. That's okay. You don't have to.
Unless you want to have it reviewed. =;)-
Would be much more interesting to review than

@rolfl I don't have an excuse. I simply had an ATI HD5770 and that card would get stuck on 400mhz in Chrome or Firefox
But the fan died and now I have an HD6850 and use IE because it has everything setup
@RubberDuck I just need to know how to send it, since it has images attached too.

7:09 PM
just wrap the whole folder in a .zip and dunk it onto dropbox

I don't have dropbox

Q: Graphics in Conway's Game of Life in Java

JaredI recently coded a program to stimulate Conway's Game of Life: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conway%27s_Game_of_Life. Originally, my program just printed an array of 1's and 0's where the 1's represented the "live" cells, but I tried to teach myself some graphics programming to add graphics to the...

Id just be happy if some people could have a look at the general structure of the program and whether they spot any obvious misleading kwirks.         {
            var expr = "2 ^ 2 + 1 + 1";
            // 4 + 1 + 1 = 6
            Assert.AreEqual(6, Calculator.Evaluate(expr));

        [TestMethod]
        public void Parens_EvaluateBeforeExponent()
        {
            var expr = "2 ^ (2 + 1)";
            // 2 ^ 3
            Assert.AreEqual(8, Calculator.Evaluate(expr));
        }

        [TestMethod]
        public void Parens_EvaluatedBeforeDivision()

@RubberDuck because you aren't testing that 2+2==4?

Unfortunately i am faced with a situation where this doesn't work. There is a stash repository for code reviews. A previously created folder containing files similar to new created ones are showing up as moved in pull request. This is not desired and won't get a code review through. I originally did git config renames set to false in my local branch before pushing changes, but that didn't solve any thing. They still show up as moved files in the diff. Any ideas? — fayyazkl 13 secs ago

@Mat'sMug and Juhana: The title says alpha testing, granted, but at least part of the description is about looking at code. A version of this question (not the exact thing, with no code provided, etc) would be fine on codereview. — Rick Teachey 26 secs ago

Consider breaking your code into smaller, digestible posts. Nobody is likely to review your entire project for free. Try with a single module, and include as much context/explanation as possible. I have an entire VBE add-in being peer reviewed on this site, spanning over 30 questions. Ask one, wait for feedback, improve your code base, then ask another. — Mat's Mug 5 secs ago

Hello
I finally get how decorators work in Python. I feel powerful now.

Isn't that a great feeling when you finally "get it"?

Yeah. It makes you feel like anything can be accomplished.
In reality, my first decorator is simple, it's just for error handling, but it still is awesome.
def cactus_class_method_exception_handle(function):
    """
    This function provides a general wrapper for
    handling errors with the Cactus engine. Example
    usage:

        @cactus_class_method_exception_handle
        def my_class_method(self, args):
            code
    """
    def wrapper(self, *args, **kwargs):
        try:
            return function(self, *args, **kwargs)
        except Exception as cactus_game_error:
            with open("cactus_error_log.txt", "w+") as cactus_error_log:

I had that kind o epiphany when I finally understood JOINs

Wow. I had a boring life today.

@Jamal I couldn't actually see the benefit of the other changes you made. They were marginal at best, while the edit itself completely changed the question. So rather than spending time on it, I reverted the whole thing. Please don't change the title again. This question has nothing to do about merging file lines, it's question about Ruby programming paradigms and whether the specific code (which happens to merge file lines) fits those or not, from the perspective of a seasoned Ruby programmer, and hence whether it's convoluted (which by implication it appared to me) or easy to read. — GreenAsJade 13 mins ago

@Jamal You could invite them to 2nd monitor and discuss it?

Even if that were the case, the title could've been made more accurate. I'm not trying to make perfect edits each time.

@Quill I could do that.

Please people, you don't all need to comment on a 1+ year old question.

Welp, brb, seems like official business is starting.

11:49 PM
@Jamal if I could DV it again I would. sigh

I guess that is why he hasn't written the purpose of his code. He wants to know if other Ruby programmers can easily understand it

> How many Ruby programmers does it take to change a light bulb understand this code?

@Jamal woke the question up by editing it, apparently the OP did not agree with the edits.

@RubberDuck, sure, later
So, yesterday, I was asked for help with a JavaScript bug in a page.
Turned out that it was a big (*30x7*) table full of preferences (`<option>`s) for students, and the JS would update when a option value from one of the tables was selected, and when the JS function ran, it would build a query string with all the preferences, and call some VB that would update a MS Access database. The bug was that the students preferences would carry over when a new student was selected

The question has +10 -6 now. 5 of the downvotes were given today. codereview.stackexchange.com/posts/38795/timeline . @Jamal's edit cost the poor guy 10 reputation.
