Hello!!
I am taking the course cryptography this semester and I will have a presentation at the end of the semester.

Could you give me some information about the following topics:
- An electronic voting system
- Lattices and lattice reduction

What are these topics about??

Which one would you recommend me??
Do you have an idea @RoryAlsop .??

Hello @CodesInChaos !! Are you familiar wih the topics "An electronic voting system" and "Lattices and lattice reduction" ??

@MaryStar Honestly, I don't know much about either of those topics. Lattices are pretty much pure math, so if you like math and abstract algebra, you could pick those. Voting systems are applied crypto; if you'd prefer to think about how to use existing crypto schemes in the real world, and what different kinds of attacks your system might face, and about how much all the different participants may need to trust each other, that could be a good choice.
(To be really honest, my personal opinion is that, when it comes to practical electronic voting, crypto is at best a red herring. The problems with electronic voting that can be solved with crypto are not really the ones that matter the most, and even then, the crypto solutions tend to either have unrealistic requirements and/or be too complicated to implement on a large scale in practice.)
(That's not to say that there isn't all sorts of interesting crypto research on voting systems out there, but the gap between the theoretical research and practical voting in the real world is huge.)
