1:09 AM
Eh. I think it would be fairly good to have this archive, but if it's a lot of work to move the entire room over, don't worry about it.
All in all, though, it would probably be best to have it.

@Manishearth Would a move leave a copy of the messages here or would it transfer everything to the new room ?

@AshRj It would probably leave a trace as in manishearth's message here
But not actually retain the message.

So, we would basically kill this room :/ I had started liking this theme :)

We could just keep using this room instead of the defaultly-created Arduino room... :D
(yeah... defaultly isn't a word, I know.)

That wouldn't work. As it is the chatroom will be 3 clicks away from the homepage.
You would be adding another 1 to 2 more clicks
There are only so many times people like to click to get somewhere :)

1:23 AM
I know, I know... but it was a thought...
It is a bad idea to keep using this room.
(just so there's no doubt)

I would like to keep all the messages in the new room. I think a bulk move will be the best thing to do.

Agreed.

Wait!

huh
?
sorry
@AshRj Wait for??

We could move this room to the new site, and use the new room for more of the cleanup type stuff
@anorton No problem :)
I am torn between having a new room and keeping this old room :|

1:31 AM
Maybe it would be best to move this room over, and treat it as the general chat room. Using my homesite as an example, it would be similar to this. The new room we could use as a jury duty/cleanup room, like this one (sortof).

@Manishearth What would happen to the theme on moving vs new room ?

3 hours later…
@Ash @anorton I would be against moving the room. Firstly, I can't do it myself (looks like I can only move rooms on my parent site)
Secondly, betas rarely need more than one chat room. It's hard enough to keep a single chat room active
For a few weeks you'll have a lively chat and it will die down
Which means that the main Arduino room will go kaput. (hell, we still have a single active room on Physics. I'd once made a room for discussing closes and all, but it was unneccesary)
(and the bot will keep recreating it)

Both ways, the theme will change to the beta theme
If I punt over the messages, it's not much effort. Permalinks are preserved, and the only difference is that there will be little arrows next to all the messages
no biggie
Also, this isn't that major an issue, so we really don't need to discuss it too much :P It's no biggie if we don't do it at all either ;)

1 hour later…
5:43 AM
Alright, so I think we should just move the messages from this room to the new one.
2

I'd say leave them there as historical record

6:11 AM
Meh, no problem leaving them open as well

2 hours later…

2 hours later…
10:04 AM
@ash lol. Someone should teach him how to break in ;)
@tim does that^^ require looking in to?

@Manishearth No, he'll run out of commitments quite quickly if he doesn't intend to participate and fulfill them.
ZOMG he's spying on something that will be completely open in a week. NINJA!

10:40 AM
@timpost im not concerned about that. He's a sockpuppet. That may need looking into.

@Manishearth No evidence of it.

Ah
Sorry to bother you then :)

2 hours later…
12:50 PM
Were we the fastest to 100% Commitment ? (Just for vanity)
Amongst the Graduated sites, AskUbuntu seems to be the closest to us at 13 days

1 hour later…
2:19 PM
@AshRj Yeah, that Hn link really helped :)
Hopefully the hinduism proposal will pick up speed. I'm more interested in that one :)

2:33 PM
@Manishearth The commitment score will be troublesome there, seeing thats its been in commitment for a year.
I think the India proposal should be pushed. Its not in too good shape, but that can be improved.
Religion based proposals seem a little controversial. See Islam, not exactly in very good shape. You have singular views being pushed, others deleted, downvoted. They had some meta posts about it, which IIRC, also spiralled

@AshRj hmm, yeah. Hoping to promote this one as well
@AshRj meh. It's waay to broad
@AshRj I know. Christianity and Judaism have had problems as well
so much that they have a special mod chat for religion-related issues

@Manishearth That can be improved/worked-on

I participate as well, and have been chiming in on some of the metas (specially Islam meta, Christianity and Judaism and BH settled a long time ago and Islam is relatively new) and I join the mod discussions
@AshRj how?
The only reason that the proposal was created was "the individual proposals are too slow to reach commitment at a good speed"

2:49 PM
@Manishearth Actually, it would probably be better to close it and start afresh :|

@AshRj exactly

@Manishearth Is that possible ?

@AshRj not exactly
unless it gets closed as too broad

@Manishearth Are there any sites that do hangouts, other than EE ?

@AshRj not sure
a lot have chat sessions
TL did a hangout once

2:59 PM
@Manishearth Doesnt TL have like 250+ people ? (All mods+ SE Employees?)

300+ mods
but not all active
and not all active in TL
it's a bit more lively than the DMZ/EE room in my timezone. Very lively later on.

DMZ ?

4 hours later…
6:44 PM
@Manishearth why does this show up in the Arduino feed? discuss.area51.stackexchange.com/q/9969/78536

@John there's a link to the Arduino proposal

Ah, it happens automatically whenever the proposal is linked?

yep

interesting

Just wondering, where do we see the charters for various sites (e.g. EE)?

6:54 PM
@anorton charter?
the Arduino charter was written out of necessity
Otherwise, a site's FAQ and the [meta-tag:on-topic] [meta-tag:allowed-question] meta tags define the scope.

7:24 PM
Oh--sorry. Stepped away for a bit.
I thought I saw someone saying something about how if a proposal encroaches on another's charter, the proposal could be shut down. I guess I'm imagining things... :)

I suppose we should cancel the "Progress Review and Planning" events now
or is there any benefit to still having them?

7:36 PM
Eh. They could be still be useful, but maybe should be in the new room. We don't want our beta site becoming like robotics where there's hardly 2 questions a day, and just a couple users. The planning and review meetings could help keep the site active.

3 hours later…
10:49 PM
/Off topic:
Now this is a funny proposal: http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/52484/world-domination

11:01 PM
hah
