@Johnny I've read conflicting stories about the energy efficiency of EVs and hydrogen fuel cells. For example this article and this one
It is true that EV-technology is already much more mature than hydrogen fuel-cells. But despite all advances in battery technology the energy density of hydrogen is still larger than that of rechargeable batteries, which makes hydrogen better for transportation purposes than batteries. My guess is that in the future EVs will be used mostly for short distances, and hydrogen cars for longer distances.
