@rchern you weren't kidding. It's a little quiet in here :P

little?

You should come to our side of the Exchange! :p
Aw, no one-boxing for chat rooms on different exchanges
I actually decided to spend some more time on WebApps

I think having separate chat areas for each site might be a bad idea. Perhaps have hierarchies of rooms? Maybe not

I liked the "groups idea" kind of
It's just a matter of content and promotion

8:26 PM
@ChrisF, we need to grow. a lot.

I think the process might be reversed - have a central place then hive off the "web apps", "gaming", "cooking" etc. rooms once they've got a critical mass to sustain them

The problem is management and community though
Rep doesn't transfer well, moderation is reliant on whatever moderators are on the "hive"

8:50 PM
I wonder where "Google TV" will fall under in the StackExchange network. Maybe it's time for a Google StackExchange :P
It's a TV - but it's google, which is primarily a web company

Jin
there was a google proposal, but it was closed

Ah, I see

Jin
there are some really really awesome proposals, but i don't think those people who started them know how to promote, therefore they haven't gained much traction.

...and we're back at SE1.0 (;

I like the way they're talking about re-organizing area51 it sounds like steps to a better tomorrow...today!

i'd like to see graphic design/typography proposals going through someday..

i feel like i saw one?

not progressing well, but existing at least

Jin
that's the graphic design one

Maybe just a design SE?

8:55 PM
55% to just that proposal? ouch.

Typography, colors, graphics

Jin
well, then you get to the fragmentation programmers are experiencing now lol
design covers a lot of different topics...
typography alone could be a site..
then there's web design, print, media, motion etc
creativequery.com was a really good design SE1.0 site. but gets no traffic

21 users?

Seems like typography might be too micro? But I'm not much of a typography person so it's outside my scope

Jin
@macro typography is actually very broad, since it's used on everything. it has a rich history.

I play in the back end code - but my friend is big on fonts. If I ever need design stuff I have him make recommendations for fonts and colors

design is something i wish i could do
(and it is often assumed to be something i can do)

I can tweak and know what's good and what's not - but I find it hard to start with a blank page
