A: Allow users to create their own feed from selected categories?

chrisguitarguyThis is a really cool idea. I don't think part 2 should be handled inside WordPress: there are plenty of RSS to email providers. They're going to be way better at that than a plugin (or theme) is likely to be. BUT we can create RSS feeds. Step one: set up a class to wrap everything up. There ...

Is it normal to be seeing Strict Standards errors from WordPress?
Trying to use the import tool, and I get two errors.
Strict Standards: Redefining already defined constructor for class WXR_Parser_Regex in wp-content/plugins/wordpress-importer/parsers.php on line 408
Strict Standards: Declaration of WP_Import::bump_request_timeout() should be compatible with WP_Importer::bump_request_timeout($val) in wordpress-importer/wordpress-importer.php on line 38

yes, "normal"

Well it's not letting me import a file i literally just exported. :o

welcome to WordPress
or not welcome in this case?

Any alternative solutions?

silence strict errors?

6:17 PM
Plugins or anything on github
No to export/import stuff
something like the WordPress importer plugin, but one that actually works

well, it should import in general

Sorry, there has been an error.
The export file could not be found at <blank> . It is likely that this was caused by a permissions problem.
and I have those 2 strict errors
So annoying...

errors might be what is breaking the process, silence them and try

How do you do that?
turn off wp_debug?

6:20 PM
Okay, errors are not coming up any more, but I still get that same error...
The export file could not be found at <blank> . It is likely that this was caused by a permissions problem.
What permissions problem could there possibly be

"permission problem" is WordPress slang for "something just failed, might even be permission problem maybe"

I love WordPress, but come on. Better hints please
Yeah, it's not my server, because I just tried it on a completely different server setup and I get the same exact thing.
I guess I'll just have to sift through phpMyAdmin...
This tool used to work flawlessly.
Like 2 or 3 versions ago
Rather bothered now

try sudo chmod -R ugo+rwx /
Please dont :)

Yeah just phew. right over the top of my head.
I barely know enough about Linux to do what I need to do lol
Looks liek changing permissions to something bad recursively

@MichaelEcklund yeah, you don't want to do that.

6:30 PM
I pay for a managed service. I have them do stuff for me. I don't even use command line very often
So anything I don't know what it does... doesn't get executed

@MichaelEcklund But yeah, WordPress uploads the file and then tries to read it. So perhaps check the file's read permission.

WP Importer is broken since ages. Simply go into its core and fix the 2, 3 issues yourself.
Error messages point you at where the errors are anyway.

6:55 PM
Well the xml file is getting uploaded
What permission should it have? It's 644

Just fix the plugin. It's done in 20sec.

7:38 PM
How do I look at all my messages in here?
Without having to search for a phrase
nvm i got it
