contracting with a mid size company like us you basically would get some code conventions, some art assets, and a storyboard
we mainly make e-learning like that omelette course I posted the other day
game dev shops would be companies like activision or vivendi
they have a tremendously different culture
I have a pretty consistent workload year round
work between 35 and 45 hours a week
but at a game dev shop they work maybe 45-60 hours a week while a game is in active production, up to 100 hours a week close to launch
then once the game is out they work maybe 15-25 hours a week
till the next one ramps up
AAA game dev isn't a good job if you want a home life

the game dev companies I toured in california all have bedrooms
with a bunch of bunk beds
because you're not supposed to leave during crunch time, they'll bring you food and let you take naps but the game has to go out on time

@CuddleBunny might be the reason why the big game devs closed their Australian Studios. in Australia you pay normal wages between 8 AM and 5 PM, anything before or after you have to pay time+1/2 (ie. if you get 30/h you then time+1/2 makes it 45/h), same with weekends. sundays and holidays you have to pay time+time
i very much doubt alot of AAA companies would want to keep that up

some companies here used to voluntarily pay time + 1/2 on Sundays and for overtime, but have done away with it over the last decade or two.
I think the government just passed a measure to make people get paid extra for overtime, but it only applies to people that are considered lower class

the line that is drawn is whether you spend all the money you make on just living vs being able to spend some on leisure

the sidebar should explain how to combine multiple topic filters
I know you can also combine subreddits somehow but idk if filtering works in that case
reddit has lots of tools as external sites and you might find the best filtering solution for you, but that seems like a pain
