@ʞɹɐzǝɹ what game?
also given that it's a Japanese game, aside from language barrier there's also the DLC barrier

Back again

"U hum sneak it" is apparently an anagram for "HATSUNE MIKU."

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ damn, you're right

12:12 AM

I want to play Hyperdimension Neptunia

@LucasHenrique then do it, the first 2 games are on steam

I have to pay for it
And I cant afford it

@LucasHenrique ahhhh, that barrier

12:17 AM
steam sales is coming up so you might get nep nep on sale
i would just get rebirth1 first though

@Frosteeze unless the story is vastly different from the original i don't think it matters. more or less you might actually get confused why Histoire is an Oracle for Planetune given what power she should have

@Mysticial what a shame

Found a better one:

Q: How to pass "I'm not a robot"

Marc LehmannI didn't have trouble answering questions in the past, but now I fail the human verification check. Basically, instead of a CAPTCHA, I can check "I'm not a robot". When I check it, it goes away and I get a spinning circle animation. I don't seem to be able to do anything afterwards; I waited a ...

so, i didn't know Deltora Quest actually originated in Australian. unsure if the books were ever released in japan but it kinda gives me hope that an Australian Book can receive an Anime Adaptation

1:34 AM
Yes.

@ton.yeung "uchi" can be used for "I" informally in the context of having no gender connotation... you typically see this used by women who want to be informal, but avoid the "cuteness" associated with "atashi"
@ton.yeung kanji are generally seen as masculine, "atashi" has no kanji form you see

i always thought watashi was cuter than atashi, at atleast girls should really be using atashi. that's only based off one scene in Katahane where Angelina is talking to her foster mother one night and she says that Angelina should really stop using atashi and use watashi insted

this given atashi a cute, effeminate nuance

@Memor-X watashi is gender-neutral. atashi comes from a cutesy/girly pronunciation of watashi.
atashi isn't gender neutral.

@ton.yeung it is

1:44 AM
By whom? It isn't, lol.

@ton.yeung Imma slap them

Let's DDoS them.

btw I need to note and exception... saying “watashi mo” (meaning: “me too”) can come off as very effeminate if you use it in an informal situation

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ IIRC using watashi in any informal situation is somewhat effeminate.

@Eric hmmm, maybe i misread that scene but even with the translation i knew that Angelina's forster mother was complain about the habit of how she refers to herself. then again i was kinda trying to get to where Angelina and Belle first meet (aside from a fleeting pass by) so i might not have been paying as much attention as i should

1:46 AM
boku is more masculine and somewhat informal.

@Eric true but such contexts are hard to read at times
@Eric Boku (僕) is what you could think of as the "soft-masculine" "I"-word. since it literally means “manservant,” you use it there is a sense that you are humbling yourself before the speaker

Nope. watashi is the most gender-neutral pronoun possible (except in informal situations, as above).
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ Eh? I thought this was its archaic origin. I don't get this sense from it at all anymore.

@Eric it is, but there are other ways to use it
esp in literature

e.g. if I was a nigh omnipotent demigod female loli and you had a request
I can us boku in the context of "and what can I do for you?"

1:50 AM
What!?
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ is an omnipotent demigod loli!?

@Eric if

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ fi
Just wanted to end your conditional there.
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ Interesting.
Personally I prefer ore in all situations. :P

@Eric let me give you a quick lesson on "oira" and other "special" forms of I

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ Sure. :P

so oira used to be a form of ore from the edo period
but now it's use as "I" for... housepets! (as spoken by their masters)
still with a youthful male nuance
so you know "sessha," right?

1:56 AM
Yeah

the wife of the samurai would say "warawa" (妾)
in classical form it's about the same as sessha, but for women in general (to humble themselves before others)

@Memor-X they need to fix some bugs is what i meant
for rebirth 2 that is

there's also yo (余) for those of high stature.. if I has a heartless overlord in a manga or anime, I would use this

Never heard that one. lol

fun fact, Bowser uses "wagahai"

Q: How do you make those squiggly paper things?

HotelCaliforniaI see these squiggly paper things a lot in anime and manga: As far as I can tell, they're supposed to be seals for shinboku, or holy trees. Does anyone know how to make them? P.S. I had no idea where else I could ask this question, but I guess the paper things can be considered tropes... right?

@Eric it's another classical thing
Shide (紙垂, 四手) is a zigzag-shaped paper streamer, often seen attached to shimenawa or tamagushi, and used in Shinto rituals. A popular ritual is using a haraegushi, or "lightning wand", named for the zig-zag shide paper that adorns the wand. A similar wand, used by miko for purification and blessing, is the gohei with two shide. A Shinto priest waves the haraegushi over a person, item, or newly bought property, such as a building or car. The wand is waved at a slow rhythmic pace, but with a little force so that the shide strips make a rustling noise on each pass of the wand. For new properties...

AnimatedLimeThe Seigaku team plays billiards in this episode. The time the ost starts is around 14:05 right before Ryoma Echizen breaks against Fuji.

2:21 AM
@Frosteeze ahhh ok
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ i was going to ask about the staffs/wands that miko use with these on them here in the chat but though that age i got my questioned answered

@Memor-X you can still ask it here or ask it in the context of an anime or manga you saw it in
there may be a fine line between japanese culture and japanese culture in anime/manga, but as long as the main topic is anime/manga, it's fine

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ is that an new anime or the animated scenes from the second game which is being released this year

@Memor-X comming in october animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-06-06/…
ufo table
@ton.yeung don't worry, furries aren't for everyone

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ the game is apparently being released at the end of the previous month but given that it's going to be a console release i'm probably going to have to rely on the anime to see how the story relates. unless it gets localized like Tears to Tiara 2
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ still waiting for that third game to be localized, i got Tales of Xillia 1 and 2

2:53 AM
@ton.yeung that's anime
@Memor-X i told them to not wait for you

3:36 AM
@ton.yeung i had to drop that after a few episodes. seemed like it to me. did you end up watching punchline through? thoughts? i can't really say that i dropped that one, because i never really gave it much of a chance, saw the first ep.. seemed like over the top 'blow the world up' pantsu fan service
but maybe i was to quick to judge on punchline
i never tried gunslinger due to no history personaly with the games, i wanted triage X to be good, I gave it a fare couple episodes to show me different, but was still unimpressed, punchline did seem like a mess, so i just let that be, and seraph im still enjoying
i read the manga to that however, the first ep scared me, cause it was so rushed, and had its differances to the manga, but it kinda mellowed out after that, and it's not to bad.
never got around to the first season of sidonia but i did hear good things.
theres a few things that bother me about seraph but i let it slide, It's still enjoyable for me. and I enjoy the build-up OP/EN
the OP spoilers and EN previews are wack tho ;/

@Memor-X Yeah. Translated the menu and stats on my own though I don't hack it and re-pack it. Just wrote a note of it.

@SakuraiTomoko UI is one thing but what i wanted translated was the dialog, at least for now

@Frosteeze Yes. I played Kamidori, SonoHana 1-9, Touhou Pocket Wars 2nd, My GF is the Prez, Sharin no Kuni, Hoshizora Memoria, Sengoku Rance and some others.

@Memor-X Time for meta, or do we even need to?

5:45 AM
@nhahtdh oh I forgot it's probably better also to note once that could use form improvement

@nhahtdh what, about weather we should have demographic tags in id requests *shrugs*

Many id-requests about shoujo recently

@ToshinouKyouko no not recently, just recently edited

something for you @ToshinouKyouko \/

5:47 AM
:D

Demographics are too broad

@ToshinouKyouko well one of your questions just got it added, might want to review it yourself

He's doing a lot of them

I pinged him here

5:51 AM
ok edited it to mention bad questions that could use improvment and negelected question

Hello, I was requested by nhahtdh to join this chat regarding the creation of a "shoujo" tag.

Haven't we had this discussion before? IIRC the consensus was that genre/demographic tags are for questions about the genre/demographic itself, not for questions about individual series which fall in that classification.

@LoganM was only just created
at least according to the histroy

@LoganM even then anime a production could work
-

That would be fine, but the tag did not exist at all before, and since over 100 questions come up if you do a search for the word "shoujo," I thought it could be helpful. Some that come up in that search are shoujo and some are about series that only happen to have "Shoujo" in the title of the series but are not shoujo series.

5:53 AM
@seijitsu I don't think anyone would bother searching for id-requests

So a tag could help people who know shoujo well to find and answer questions they can answer instead of weeding through a lot of questions.

Even if it is the case, the tag should follow the question, not the answer

I, for one, would from time to time search for the tag "shoujo" and see if I can answer anybody's questions since I know the genre well.

That's also the reason why we don't retag a question after it is answered with the series tag

What does "the tag should follow the question, not the answer" mean, could you re-phrase that?

5:55 AM
@seijitsu you should post a meta about this before taking action, sometimes it's justified sometimes it's not. It's best to let everyone have a word before taking action
while I don't condone it, I feel that adding the tags were a bit premature

So creating tags is something that is not done unless it is brought up prior to creation in Meta? Good to know

@seijitsu not all tags but meta tags such as this one
series tags are fair game

So a series title tag can be added at any time, but any other tags should be vetted in Meta?

@seijitsu Sooner or later, people will notice and tell you to justify your creation of a meta tag

(Hm, I do feel like I tried to add a series title tag once before and it got deleted...)

5:58 AM
@seijitsu typically yes. we don't like to clutter the site with too many meta tags

@seijitsu not to id requests through
@seijitsu it may have been for something like Evangellion in trying to add a rebuild tag
i get the feeling someone may have tried that and it was already decided that the rebuild movies just fall in the existing tag, no need for a new one

'The tag should follow the question' -> "tags shouldn't be applied from info in the answers (post-answering)"
Maybe that is clearer?

Yes, thanks for the clarification! Right, I was only adding the tag I just made to questions in which the OP thought the title was shoujo

@seijitsu if we had no tag and you had a question about light novel production, adding one would be acceptable as there is precedence for other production-type tags

I see
So there is no precedent for genre tags, I take it? Was that intentional?
In other words, was think previously discussed and people thought genre tags would not be beneficial for searching through questions to answer or which might be of interest to someone who likes that genre?

6:02 AM
there has been some discussion on this:

Q: What is the status of meta-tags?

Madara UchihaAs part of the 4th chat discussion, we covered the status of meta tags. Examples of meta tags are: characters character-abilities variations plot-explanation The questions we discussed are: Do we need them? Do they contribute anything? If not, should we just eliminate them. (and blacklist ...

@seijitsu correct

So I should add this into that thread? (It doesn't look like genre tags were discussed there...?)

There doesn't seem to be any discussion directly about demographic tags, though, from my search

@seijitsu I would say post a new meta
@nhahtdh a new meta on this would be helpful
some of the policy is a bit dated and could use a refresh

@seijitsu its more so that no one has talked about it and made a decision rather than it being beneficial or not

now is a good time as any imo

6:05 AM
I see, thank you for the courteous information!

for now I'll take care of the shoujo tags

I apologize for "katte ni" creating and affixing a new meta tag when there is no precedent for doin that

No worries :)

@seijitsu don't worry, everyone makes mistakes

6:07 AM
I'm going to write a meta question

to be honest i'm suppressed we don't have any demographic tags without a discussion on them unless it's hidden somewhere

@Memor-X We've had it before, like I said

I'm new to using the Meta; can I post a question there or do you need certain amount of reputation or to be a moderator?

You need 5 reputation, which you have

@seijitsu You need at least 5 reputation to participate on child meta.

A: Do we want a [hentai] tag?

Logan MWe've debated genre tags like this before in one of the chat casts. In that case I think we were discussing lolicon, but the same logic applies here. The consensus at that time was that a genre-based tag could work, but it would need to be used on questions about the genre itself (e.g. production...

Q: Should we allow genre meta tags?

let's break from blaming ppl talk about cool anime OPs of the past (anything not this year) ... like:

Gintama OPs are always cool

@SakuraiTomoko post them then

They always make the OP from the scratch for every episode (according to Sakata Gintoki that is)
