@ZachLipton most non-compact rentals could pull that off
although acceleration could take a while
I mean the speed limit in Europe is 130+ km/h and most cars can accelerate to that easily

6:25 AM
130 km/h is no problem. I'm just saying that if you get a Prius or a basic Ford Focus or something like that, 111 mph is going to be at or above your top speed, or at least the car is going to sound really unhappy about going that fast and handle awfully poorly
I've heard of some rental cars having limiters too

@chx I just have to wonder what he expected to be removed? Like if you shake the cable say...what exactly would drop out?

@GayotFow I can't locate that JR anywhere online, can you point me in right direction? I would love to read this one.

@GayotFow cheers!

Wow, fascinating read. Judge was kind of hard on ECO and the Manager for giving out such strong refusal without even considering if there truly was deception at work. And I guess that if either of them would start to write down explanation why it is dishonest, they would realize that it's most likely just a human error, not deception. And the whole thing would not have happened.

@ZachLipton Google's info box for "prius top speed" gives 112 mph.
The only car I've rented that I knew to have a limiter was a moving truck, limited to 65 mph. This proved to be very irritating as I was driving across the US and would have liked to have been able to drive a bit faster on such a long trip. Other cars I've driven may have had limiters, but they were not disclosed, and if they were in fact present, I did not notice them -- probably because the limit was higher and I never reached it.
@ZachLipton Not necessarily. It might have been a highway that was built to the same engineering standards but not designated as an interstate highway.

How the heck did I get +61 for an answer that boils down to "hire a lawyer to represent your absent self in court before they put a warrant out for your arrest" ?

@ZachLipton Because to people like me it’s not obvious that a lawyer can represent you in court in your absence. And because HNQ.

hey
what do you think about this question

A: How can I preclude border agents from seeing emails on my laptop?

Johns-305Note to future readers: This answer is 100% correct. The downvotes are wrong and unhelpful. Presumably, the downvoters just don't like answer and don't understand how the border works. There are only two points to keep in mind: Everything is subject to inspection. Everything. To clarity, eve...

i think that's a good Travel SE question but it was closed as off-topic

Yeah that answer weirded me out when it came up in review

oh i see i linked the answer
but i wanted to discuss the question because it was closed, but i think it's perfectly on-topic

well, I think both the question and the answer are decent enough

the edited answer being better (minus the usual rant about downvoting)
the original answer was crap
