@Berwyn that was the original answer. The new answer still isn't great, but boils down to "customs officers can search your stuff. Don't carry stuff you don't want them to search."
not the most useful answer (discussion of encryption, travel devices, cloud storage, etc... is more helpful)
but less awful than the original one

probably the one where he added the ranting about downvotes
which, you know, if you have to keep rewriting your answer again and again to fix what people are complaining about, maybe the downvotes weren't so unwarranted
yeah I've been trying to make sense of arya_amit's answer
but I like "this will create a mess in the flight like a fair," as if the floor of the cab of some flights doesn't already resemble a fair by the end of the trip
I am considering to travel out of the US. However, being a brown person, I am concerned about the recent actions of the US Customs and Border Protection. I strongly believe in digital privacy and 0% willing to share my data with anybody else. I keep my data encrypted. However, it looks like that ...
@JonathanReez @JoErNanO I agree with @Berwyn. The question is on topic here; it doesn't matter whether it's also on topic at Law.SE. Legal consequences of choices we make when we travel are a travel consideration.
Should I just delete this answer: travel.stackexchange.com/questions/90732/… ? This question is now a dupe, and my answer doesn't bring anything that the original one doesn't cover.
