It seems data.SE caches a query if you run it again even though the data has been updated
a little annoying
Managed to drop 4 places on this data.stackexchange.com/travel/query/6856/… after this week's voting

Wonder how come there hasn't been any pokemon go questions? :)

Iwas going to say 'We are too old' but a guy at work in his 50's has started it. Even before on sale in the country

on sale? do you have to buy it?

Sorry, force of habit
game is free, extras are for sale
but it is released at different times in different countries

ok

So. My "experiment" with the Jason Bourne question was that "Jason Bourne" was trending on google search. I was curious to see if that would make any difference in a question. Given the number of views, evidently not.
However, it turned out to be quite interesting after all

You got a useful comment which turned out to be a good answer.
Running out of votes for the day, but you will get one on the suitcase Q, likely only tomorrow though.

Yeah, Dorothy should've answered that!
I see you got 40 today :)

Yes, still on that pilgrimage Q, good winner there.

oh wait, you've only got 35 votes. Did it stop again at 35?

3:52 PM
Oh, votes, No, I have 2 more I believe, no more than 3
I hardly ever get 40, I think
Two left now, so that would make 38.

4:07 PM
Makes me wonder if I am the only one who has those difficulties.

5:02 PM
@GayotFow do you really think that uk visa issue was a dupe?
seemed like a no hope

5:19 PM
@Berwyn I think it's a duplicate. It can still be a no hope and a duplicate.
if you want it reopened, let me know
btw, nephews don't count as family anyway. They will refuse on that the next time, watch

@GayotFow I was just thinking that the dupe might raise his hopes higher than was likely possible
speaking as a rank amateur...
retired 70 year olds with no income supported by son

Dubai never cease to impress me..
they made an immigration services counter in the airport for UAE citizens.. to renew or issue passports on the spot.. 5 minutes service.. lol

I was due to go a few months ago but cancelled

i lived there three years in the late 90s..

nice service!

it wasnt much.. but in short time they became something..

amazing the things you can do with a bottomless pit of money :)

5:46 PM
@Berwyn in addition to brains..
many countries have money.. but corruption and no brains made them at the bottom...
UAE has no corruption..

I'll supply the brains if you can find someone to give me the bottomless pit of money

@Berwyn Yes, that situations is doomed from the outset. it's silly to try. It's fine to leave a comment to that effect; but as penniless 70 yo's they probably don't care about serial refusals.
@JoErNanO can I put in a question/answer that combines and fills in the gaps for do I need a visa, what kind of visa, how to get one, how long does it take? Provides an umbrella and some glue for lots of bits and bobs?

6:04 PM
I see an other 'forget it' comming on

Q: Permesso Di Soggiorno Visitor Visa to USA

Remilekun Adekoya OlowokereI would like to invite my friend is a Nigerian living in Italy and holding a Italian residency (permesso di soggiorno) to visit me in USA. Can an Italian resident (permesso di soggiorno) obtain a tourist visa to travel to USA? What if he is not working? I would be the one sponsoring his trip. Wou...

@Willeke go ahead and tell her.
And start your answer with 'Odey!"

no knowledge, just a feeling
I'll try.

@Willeke yeah, go for it!
and add a comment to the uk family one too
Just because @Berwyn bottled out doesn't mean you should too :)
@HeidelBerGensis i didn't see you in here. Orrite bro?

Try made, can you check it over?
As I do not know what Odey! stands for, I had totally forgotten it when writing.

6:26 PM
Once I had a Kikuyu girlfriend, she was drop dead gorgeous too. Sigh. And she taught me that secret word. "Odey or Oday"

@MarkMayo That was the last vote for today, 38.
He might be of a different tribe. And it was this American friend, not himself to ask.

@GayotFow yup boss...

@HeidelBerGensis How's the big A number 1 today?

@GayotFow not getting it :D

@HeidelBerGensis We all have that problem old mate, that's what Rosy Palm is for

6:46 PM
@GayotFow i am quite not on the ground.. very hard for me to get things.. lol

7:09 PM
@GayotFow Is that the kind of comment you meant (on the family visa Q)?

@Willeke there's a good lass!
@HeidelBerGensis 'hard', but is it insurmountable?

@GayotFow You closed it with your super powers! I can't comment :)

@Berwyn Yeah, I hammered it, but if you want to put an answer just shout

@GayotFow Hope you don't mind me using your "follwing in the footsteps" tagline
Trying to become a vertical traveller :)

@Berwyn I saw it. You need more stuff like that to get vertical. Even in the footsteps of Mozart or Attila the Hun!

7:19 PM
:D

I will be a hard sell that it is not a duplicate
Just tell him that icing on the cake is icing on the cake and to IGNORE IT

7:34 PM
@GayotFow Did you get a chance to look at the berlin wall?
@Willeke I'm not sure how you got 38 votes today. There's so little to vote on

I could do an other 4 to 10, but I do vote on older Q and A as well.

Q: Male alternatives to dressing up as a geisha in Kyoto

Andrew GrimmI'm sure that some studios would be capable of dressing up men as geishas (after all, some geishas are male), but apart from that, what options are available for men in Kyoto? Are there any popular options apart from samurais?

How come nobody has voted to close or anything on that? I've read it a few times and I haven't a clue what the question is

He is looking for an option to dress up.
Either as Geisha or as something male other than samurai
Which is for females quite normal, photo ops.

7:51 PM
Does he want to cross dress?

As did the male Geishas he mentions.
But he might be happy with traditional male Japanese dress as well.

chx
@Berwyn that's because i havent seen it yet. there is your close vote.

@chs what was that in relation to?
oh, the geisha

chx
someone with 8000 points and gold badges should know better

I think he's had 1600 questions and got 5 points each :)

So, if you do the Balaton swim next year, I can confirm we have space for you. I will host a number of people this August already for 2016.drupalaton.hu this . The house needed extensive renovations but plumbing, roofing and some of the flooring is done so the house is habitable :)
I hear they even installed doors on the new WCs this week. Utter luxury.
:P

2017?
I'm in california for those dates this year
just booked a flight for next weekend
I'd love to do it

chx
yeah, the house is for a school (or rather a school-ish) and so in the summer it's empty

@Berwyn today I was in Peter, not Moscow, I just +1'd your answer.

I just got -15 for it :)
unaccept -15. Oh well, I'll live

8:15 PM
sorry wrong button, thanks for the head's up

Cheers!
@GayotFow What was this one day trip? You just dropped someone off?

yes, just basically in for the day. My ride was leaving today, so not much choice really

Good trip? Who did you fly with?

A chap who lives in Primrose Hill

Heh. I meant the airline

8:26 PM
Huh? You mean the craft? Cessna 525

Oh, private?

Yes, I don't like to fly commercially if I can avoid it
I just catch rides

Hitch-flying

Empty leg

Usually only works one way though
Did you get an emptly leg back too?

8:29 PM
Both in and out, and yes it can get tricky
Earlier this year I went to Samarkand

Doesn't look like a likely place to pick up an empty leg each way...

Same pilot, dropping off a refurbished cherokee and picking up a mooney to take back for repairs

Hope you got time for a bit of sightseeing

Just a day and a bit, into the mosque was all I was looking for
Last year it took me 4 separate flights to get back from Houston, very stressful
Especially with my mobility

Do you have a problem with stairs? If so, I imagine private jets aren't optimal

8:40 PM
Just about everything :)

:(

i have a photo of the cherokee and pilot at a refueling stop in Russia, we refueled like 5 times

9:12 PM
yeah I'm really not getting why anybody is dressing up as anything in Kyoto
