@hippietrail Yes! Assam had a problem with domestic rebel factions wanting to break away in the 90s but now it's mostly sorted out and an incredibly nice / safe place to go. I've been to Guwahati and Kaziranga National Park - the latter has rhinos!

work once booked me on business class on a luftrhansa flight within europe

i queried it because we had to fly economy. turned out it was cheaper than the cheapest economy flight available

actually, now i think about it, i had the same a few weeks ago. San Diego to San Juan - i was in paid first because it was cheaper than economy by a few dollars

When I flew from Ulan Batar to London almost a year ago today, there were a few people who had just finished the Mongolian Rally on the same flight

two of them had worked out that business class was cheaper

and they were gloating all the way onto the plane, and as we walked past their seats :)

heh.. i try not to do that when i'm in first, but occasionally if someones been big-noting themselves in the boarding area then i make sure they see me as they walk back to economy :)
