@whuber @Glen_b @chl @AndyW I felt the need to write a short post for the CV blog, related to my experience here on CV. I have not publish it, just left it as a Draft. But I don't know whether it is considered in harmony with the CV world, to post such posts in the blog. So I would like to have the opinion of some older member here. I will have absolutely no problem, if it is deemed better not to publish it.

2:15 AM
Hmm. Well I'm certainly not the arbiter of what goes on the blog, I'm just a user, no different from yourself. If you want me to take a look at it, I could. How long is it?
(a rough ballpark figure, in thousands of words, say)
Are you worried that it's overly personal?

2:38 AM
@Glen_b It's just ~ 500 words. Underneath, I believe I just wanted to write a propaganda piece for CV. I am mainly worried that it may look "immodest" to "congratulate" CV on CV pages. I would appreciate it if you had a look, and tell me what you think.

2:49 AM
@AlecosPapadopoulos If you want an email address to send it to, I've just emailed you (at the account mentioned in the about on your blog)
Are you usually up so early (or so very late)? Isn't it really early in Greece right now?

@Glen_b I am usually up so very late (it is now 06:00 here), that becomes very early... I was always a night person. I like the day, but my mind really wakes up at night. This period I don't have a morning job clock, so I can stay up all night (I am also writing a paper at the moment, so you can understand...)

Yes, I do understand.
Ah, I have your email.
@Alecos It looks fine to me, but yes I understand why you might ask. You might want to run it past a few people. You could always follow the model for the previous blog post and put it on meta first (it could even stand without the image in meta, I think, but there's no harm if you want it to be there).

3:12 AM
@Glen_b Thanks. Good to hear you also think it needs some thought and opinions before getting published. I don't feel this is for meta. It's written with the outside world in mind. I guess I will try to drill people here on chat to get them to read it, like the other users I have alerted initially.

3:43 AM
It itself wouldn't be a meta post, but the question "Is this suitable for the blog?" (followed by quoted text) would be reasonable, I think.
@Alecos Anyway, I'll leave that to you.
@Alecos is the 400 days a reference to the Bob Marley song or the game?

@Glen_b Bob Marley Also, in Greek history there are the "400 years we lived in slavery" (i.e. as subjects of the Ottoman Empire after the Fall of the Byzantine Empire). You can imagine, that, after public school, "400 years" comes easily to my mind.

Ah, I wondered if there was a reference to Greek history that I was missing.
I was aware of that period, but I didn't know the length of that time.

@Glen_b 1453 AD to ~1830 AD

4:00 AM
Thanks

@Glen_b You're welcome. Well, 07:00, time to sleep a little. Bye for now.

Bye

It is a great post @AlecosPapadopoulos - I justify the guilty pleasure of spending time here based on the same feelings.
I feel like the mixing ground here of questions (and backgrounds of people answering questions) is quite the education. I learn alot by reading other peoples Q's and A's.
Even if I don't find a question title particularly interesting if I see particular posters provide an answer I find myself checking in to see what they had to say.

@AlecosPapadopoulos Well, I did 'click that click' for more than 1000 consecutive days after I subscribed to CV. I never reached your reputation, though :-) (However, to be honest, I've never been really interested by this artificial criteria -- I just like helping people for a particular problem they need to solve).
I believe you can publish your post as is. There's no problem with that: The blog is yours! Or it is what users decide it has to be, in a certain sense. In any case, you are free to express your thoughts, ideas, or motivations; others did the same.

9:17 PM
@chl 3 years! Hats off.
@chl Thanks - I will go on and publish it.
