@Stephie You are so sweet! I'll bet your Granny is too. Dennis must have come across my baby very soon after it was moved, cuz it's looking very happy back in its pot! Here comes a picture...

@J.Musser or @NiallC. I'm trying to figure out how to let new users play in the Sandbox.. It's been fun having it all to myself but that's not the point. I'm officially confused by the help and meta pages, so... I assume it takes 100 rep to edit it, but can anyone answer it? Meaning-if someone's having trouble with things like adding pictures, can I send them there,
and instruct them to add an answer? That way, they have access to the same formatting box as a question, giving them a place to experiment. Do they need more than 1 rep? Can they be unregistered?

@Sue I just created a sockpuppet account to see if new users can do that, and unfortunately they can't... you need 5 rep to post on meta, even on the sandbox post.
So the best thing to do is probably just link them to the formatting help. If they need help adding pictures, I link to a Q&A on Home Improvement meta. For example:
Please see (on our sister site) meta.diy.stackexchange.com/questions/523/… and meta.diy.stackexchange.com/questions/989/… for full instructions on how to do it from a computer or from the mobile apps. Once you upload the photo, the post can be taken off hold. Thanks, and welcome to the site. — Niall C. ♦ Jul 18 at 14:00

Thanks! That's helpful and makes better sense. Later on, though, even one upvote will give them enough to get into the box. Speaking of unregistered users-I found a meta post saying they do get inbox notifications. So if I want to ask an unregistered user for an update or to gently encourage them back, they'll receive my comment, but only if they check the site, right?
I'm thinking of the ID question Community just bumped up. I thought I'd ask if the flower opened, to see if they'll come back.
and of course to make the question more useful in general.

@Sue There's an option in your user profile to have inbox notifications emailed to you, but I expect there are very few unregistered users that find that option and check it. Your best bet is probably still going to be to leave a comment on the post and hope for the best.
