@J.Musser I love this! I thought I'd pop in and say hi to you and @Stephie! We're getting ready to go to Maine for a few days-tomorrow through Tuesday, and I probably won't be taking my iPad. I'll have my phone, which has SE Android, but the app doesn't work very well for me. I'm just hoping to get logged in each day so I don't lose my consecutive days! I hit yearling at SE and will very soon here too.
Thanks to both of you and @NiallC. and others for all the cool stuff going on. I'm going to have SE withdrawal, but my awesome hubby gets very little vacation, and we're looking forward to getting away. We're going to visit my oldest and best friends, who we rarely see cuz they live in Florida. They're vacationing in Maine so we're taking advantage of their proximity. She warned me that it's very cold up there-ick!!!

@Sue Ooh!
Maine sounds cool!
literally

Sue
@J.Musser Ohai! Quite literally!

ha
I haven't been up that way for some time

Sue
She said bring very warm things-cold and I don't get along!

@Sue do you drink coffee?
Hot chocolate is good too

Sue
7:25 PM
@J.Musser With marshmallows!

:P

Sue
@J.Musser Nope, have never liked coffee-can't even stand the smell of it! I'm into herbal teas these days.

@Sue ah!
I love coffee

Sue
Has your work slowed down or are you just staying up extra late to spend so much time here?

I drink pots
@Sue Actually, taking a lot of time off.
All this cold rain makes it hard to do stuff

Sue
7:28 PM
@J.Musser Do you like regular or stuff with flavors, like hazelnut?
@J.Musser Did you get the hurricane, or just a lot of rain?

@Sue My all time favorite is Colombian light roast unflavored coffee, black
@Sue Just rain. It's been raining steadily for 2 days now
the hurricane will be next week
@Sue I do like the flavored one's too

Sue
@J.Musser Raining here too, and you can have your gross black coffee :))

haha
I think tea tastes like hay, so there

Sue
@J.Musser Laughing out loud! Too cliché to write lol, but thanks for the laugh!

ha

D had some cherry tomatoes on the vine, but the rain broke the branch while they're still green. How should I ripen them?

@Sue Are they full size?

Sue
Not quite. He planted them quite late, I'm surprised they produced at all, but I'd like to use them...

@Sue If they're most of the way grown, they will ripen. I'd set them on a napkin or something, on a warm, bright windowsill (indoors of course)

Sue
Cool-I'll leave them on our best window and hope the sun comes out!

if they're too small, they'll start shriveling before they turn red.
I know someone who picks all her green tomatoes right before the last frost, and pickles them
pickles are so gross tho
hmm here's different advice

Sue
7:41 PM
That's interesting, I never knew they shriveled like that. I know some fruits will ripen in brown paper bags, and tomatoes are a fruit! I'm with you on pickles!

Q: how to ripen tomatos quickly?

CaseyJonesI read a tip about putting unripe tomatos in a bag with a few bananas in a dark part of the house at room temperature, but I wonder how long - more or less - does it take for the tomatos to be fully ripe and how can one be sure they are good? Thanks

yeah ethylene gas... that makes sense
I suppose a rather ripe banana would be great for that

Sue
@J.Musser Interesting post!
My cats are annoyed-I think it's cuz we've got the suitcases out.
They sit on them so we can't leave, except for one who sits inside it so we won't leave him. Very sad.

@Sue oh ha so they know what those mean...
Animals are the best
the last one is soo funny

Sue
@J.Musser Have to agree with you on that!
@J.Musser My dog ate my homework!

@Sue HAHAHA
what a jerk

Sue
7:48 PM

@Sue Yeah, I will!
You too
