2:35 AM
I did debate in High School
Policy Debate for a year and then 3 years of Lincoln Douglas Debate
it's fun, teaches you how to construct an argument and speak to the common man, haha
In LD, the "judges" who determined who won a debate round were simply the parents -- average joe's -- of debate students. So part of the strategy was learning how to speak to a person and get them on your side rather than merely being able to spit out raw facts like a robot

"know your audience" and all

yeah
btw, either chrome is acting up or they removed the icons of fellow people in the chat room?

I'm on firefox, so I couldn't tell you
or, well, I guess that means chrome is acting up

I like our diversity, people from all over the world

yeah

2:40 AM
except starting at row 7 there are 5 Germans in a row

I'm pretty surprised I'm still up there, thoug
haha, nice catch

how's school going

pretty meh

charming smart guy like you
must be girls swarming you every day

the sarcasm made it through my screen like a dark ooze

2:45 AM
haha no for real

well then
...where are they

i dated a girl in my philosophy class

there is an overwhelming lack of girls swarming me, characteristic of the past two years

she's was a sweetheart
haha
what's wrong
hairstyle not figured out?

well, that's one thing

2:46 AM
get nervous?

and that
especially around girls (going to a boys high school did not help my ability to socialize with the opposite sex)
which is stupid, I'm nineteen

not stupid at all
i did not develop the ability to talk to girls until I was like 22
I was into World of Warcraft and playing on my computer all day before that

so I guess there is hope for me yet

I still play on my computer all night when I get home from work these days... haha, but I have a GF now

very nice

2:49 AM
the solution (not necessarily easy) is confidence, and you get it once you fix how you feel about yourself externally (appearance) and you fix how you feel internally (control the overthinking that always happens when you're near hot girls)

oh well that just about sums up the bulk of my problems nicely
of course that's a bit of an empty solution, the whole method's missing
"show your work" etc.

what do you mean?

well, the solution as you phrased it is the objective
the path toward achieving that has not exactly been made clear and is my primary stumbling block

1) find a simple way to make your hair not look silly, something somewhat simple but fashionable
2) if you are overweight, or super skinny, you will do yourself a big favor health-wise and girl-wise by getting in shape

I'm not exactly overweight (~155-160lbs) but I'm out of shape and I plan on working out this summer

2:53 AM
3) practice talking to people. Just go up to people on the subway/train, go on routes you never will use again, you will never see these people again. Strike up conversations with people. Not just hot girls, everyone. Be comfortable talking to people

my 'do is simple looking, not horrible
oh well that's where things get difficult

it always starts hard but i guarantee you after like 100 people, you will be MUCH more comfortable talking to people
then start doing it to just girls, don't have to be the hottest of the hot, but work your way up until no one makes you nervous anymore
and realize it's all just a big game -- the dating game
it's push and pull, you win some you lose some. You will get rejected, and you will have laughs with people
at the end of the day you lose nothing, but have EVERYTHING to gain

yeah, fair enough

in time, rejection should never have any affect on you. You will know your own personal awesomeness and if anyone turns that down you just laugh and move on
it's incredible how liberating that mindset is
I am DEFINITELY an INTJ, super super introvert by the books. But on the outside no one would guess that
I run the NASA Social Club at work lol

haha, nice
yeah I guess I need to work on my belief in my own personal awesomeness

3:06 AM
ever since i discovered i was a genius, that was the easy part for me
hahaha ;)
okcupid.com
there's that too :)

and how did you discover you were a genius
maybe I could try that

when I started acing my classes without studying for tests and watching kids around me struggle

was this in university?

ya

because I definitely had that experience in high school
in university I only get that with purely content-based classes

3:12 AM
but in all seriousness I'm not technically a genius, I'm only in the gifted range (134)

e.g. astronomy, linguistics, etc.
like, I got the highest mark in the intro linguistics class having studied about half an hour and stayed up until 3am the night before doing nothing in particular
but I can't say the same for my super theoretical honours math classes...

most everyone has strong subjects and weak subjects
our brains are all a bit different
i'm definitely not a quick math person
I have friends who can calculate math stuff in their head in like 5 seconds, me no way

yeah, I understand

i'm more depth, breath, rather than speed
give me an idea and I will dissect it for you down to every little detail
just give me a few hours to do it lol

haha
I'm afraid to take an IQ test because I'm afraid I'll get less than I hope/expect (which of course shouldn't really change anything)

3:16 AM
in the US we have the GRE test you take for college, I got a perfect verbal but math was only slightly above average
because I couldn't do the speed math they wanted...

ah, yeah

gonna watch a movie with the GF, catch ya later

have fun

@meer2kat more colors? :)
Vermilion is a brilliant red or scarlet pigment originally made from the powdered mineral cinnabar, and is also the name of the resulting color. It was widely used in the art and decoration of Ancient Rome, in the illuminated manuscripts of the Middle Ages, in the paintings of the Renaissance, and in the art and lacquerware of China, where it is often called "Chinese Red". In art and culture File:Villa of Mysteries (Pompeii)-20.jpg|The bright vermilion murals in the Villa of Mysteries in Pompeii (before 79 AD) were painted with ground and powdered cinnabar, the most expensive red pig...

Impossible colors or forbidden colors are hues that cannot be perceived by ordinary viewing conditions from light that is a combination of various intensities of the various frequencies of visible light. Examples of impossible colors are bluish-yellow and reddish-green. These colors include "Stygian blue" (an impossible deeply saturated blue-black) and "hyperbolic orange" (an orange color that is oversaturated compared to a pure spectral orange). @JosephWeissman i've actually heard of that one

@JosephWeissman that is super cool. can you see it?

Ha! I don't think so :)

i don't think i'm capable of crossing my eyes properly though

3:36 PM
Binocular rivalry is a phenomenon of visual perception in which perception alternates between different images presented to each eye. When one image is presented to one eye and a very different image is presented to the other (also known as dichoptic presentation), instead of the two images being seen superimposed, one image is seen for a few moments, then the other, then the first, and so on, randomly for as long as one cares to look. For example, if a set of vertical lines is presented to one eye, and a set of horizontal lines to the same region of the retina of the other, sometimes th...
