This is a theoretical question about TLDs. Traditionally gTLDs were few and companies like apple would buy up must if not all of them like apple.com, apple.org, apple.net. With all these new gTLDs that are applicable to all types of businesses I'm wondering if it is possible to claim a company has a monopoly on a name even though it isn't applicable to their business.
With the advent of .inc & .llc there will always be names available for those with company names, but I still wonder if there is an example in businesses where a company has over extended it boundaries by buying similar names despite not working in such area
Q(real one): Can anyone else confirm that both Google and Bing have no way to do something other then a regional search? Here is Bing's page and Google's hl, gl, uule, & near no option. It should effect this Q&A here being a top result on Google.
Just to clarify there is no such thing as a Google or Bing Global Search. Basically the answer states all TLDs are treated equal on Google.com except with no way to disable regional search this would no longer be true.
Also a nit bit there is no such thing as Google.us making the example invalid.
