Would this be correct: 何楽器をやりますか。 (What musical instrument can you play?)
Or would どんな楽器をやりますか be better?

@Daniel To me, "どんな" asks for the kind, i.e. "woodwind", "brass", etc. I find 何 more fitting. But I'd write it as 「何の楽器をやりますか。」
Actually
「何の楽器がやれますか。」 would be the correct one, I think. You're asking if something is possible, which would be the potential form.

would 何の楽器ができますか be ok?

I think so?

Geeky Japanese-learners have an annoying tendency to believe that everything that happens in the language they're learning must have a formalized structured system... mostly just because they're geeks. In a remarkable stroke of luck, they're studying a language used by a people absolutely addicted to formalized systems.

I'd like to join these to sentences:
お父さんはお酒を持っていません and 嬉しくありません, but I don't know how to add the -te to 持っていません. How would I do it?
Also, how would I add another sentence after ありません? 嬉しくなくて、私は困っています?

@Daniel [お父さんはお酒を持っていなくて、嬉しくありません。」?
Also, after reading a bit of japanese literature, I can really understand why 「~ている」 is colloquially contracted to 「~てる」. It just flows that much nicer.
