5:43 PM
Do we have to wait for the end of the week for the Comp Rules update. Or did I miss it?

6:03 PM
@murgatroid99 I see the new rules in the release notes, but I don't see the update bulletin that Matt normally posts (which is what I think you are looking for)

Yeah. I don't really remember, but I think it usually shows up closer to the actual set release.

6:18 PM
I think they generally try to get it out the week of a sets release, but sometimes editing takes longer than expected for example [Eldritch Moon's Update Bulletin] (magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/…) didn't come out until 7/28 nearly a week after the set released
The SOI one it looks like came out the day before the sets release

I just want to know if there are any new rules that apply to Panharmonicon's ability
It really bugs me that the release notes say
> If Panharmonicon and an artifact or creature enter the battlefield at the same time, those permanents entering the battlefield will cause triggered abilities to trigger an additional time.
But doesn't explicitly say "Panharmonicon entering the battlefield will [not] cause triggered abilities to trigger an additional time"

6:37 PM
@murgatroid99 I would think that it would because it is on the battlefield when the triggers go off so it can see them to replace with double triggers

That's what I think too, but since the abilities would trigger basically at the same time that the permanent enters the battlefield, I'd like to be sure.

6:57 PM
I guess the fact that permanents entering simultaneously trigger each others' abilities implies that that's how Panharmonicon works
But I also want to know what kind of ability it is. It's worded kind of like a replacement effect, but by the current templating rules, it actually isn't one

On tumblr magicjudge called it a replacement effect, so I'm guessing the rules are going to update to include this new template

@diego How would you even classify that ability into a template to match against?
You can't use "Starts with 'If'" because there are a lot of other abilities that use "If" but aren't replacement effects
Even if you explicitly exclude conditional alternate casting costs, like on Angelic Favor, you still have to deal with conditional attacking and blocking restrictions like on Ekundu Cyclops and conditional combat damage reassignment on Cunning Giant.

8:49 PM
@murgatroid99 I have no idea, I think something like "If [event] causes [effect], [effect] an additional time" could work

That seems too specific.
My guess is that they'll changed the triggered ability rules to cover the instruction to trigger an ability an additional time.

Possibly, I was originally thinking having a rule like "instead" or "skip", but have it look for "an additional time" but there are a few other cards that already use that phrase. It also wouldn't be the first time they have rules for a single card that don't really work with other cards (I counted around a half dozen mentioned in the CR)

9:06 PM
Yeah, there's definitely that option, but I think it's actually not unique enough to get its own rules section
