@hhh All these words do refer to a specific time, namely the last chance to do something. For instance Abgabetermin ist the point when you have to hand over your work (e.g. in education: homework, tests, thesis); Einsendeschluss is used for quizzes or anywhere else where you can send cards to. Again last time when you can participate.
Redaktionsschluss is the time when a magazine, newspaper is printed (last time to chance any content). Anmeldeschluss is the last chance to sign up.
As you can see, all words mean a dead line.

A dead key is a special kind of a modifier key on a typewriter or computer keyboard that is typically used to attach a specific diacritic to a base letter. The dead key does not generate a (complete) character by itself but modifies the character generated by the key struck immediately after.
